Equine Reflections CIC

Equine Reflections CIC I have over 15 years of experience working with children in a primary school setting. I am also certified in First Aid.

Equine Reflections uses innovative equine assisted learning (EAL) programmes to help children and young people raise self esteem, build confidence, understand emotions and develop positive relationships through activities and interactions with horses. Following my training as a Learning Mentor, I worked extensively with children experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

I subsequently qualified as an Equine Facilitated Learning Coach and currently support children with special educational needs through this approach. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate and have completed Advanced Safeguarding Training, which I renew annually. Equine Reflections CIC is a registered Community Interest Company. I comply fully with all licensing requirements set out by North Somerset Council. This includes maintaining current Risk Assessments, Safeguarding Policies, Health and Safety Policies, and detailed procedures for the care and welfare of the horses and ponies involved in our programmes.

Marble update.
Marble is doing extremely well following the surgery to remove his eye. He was thrilled to return to his friends last week and has shown a keen interest in spending time with the children and young people as well as our lovely volunteers!
He has been out in the paddock, and as his confidence grows we have taken him for some in hand walks.
What a super ⭐

🌿 Isn’t nature such a wonderful thing? 🪺🐴
Our sessions aren’t just about working with the horses. They also encourage children and young people to be curious, slow down, and notice the world around them.

A few weeks age, some of our participants spotted a nest tucked away amongst some hanging Headcollars. We quietly kept an eye on it hoping it might become a home for a family of birds, but unfortunately it wasn’t used.

Nature, however, had other plans! Another nest built in the rafters of the outside barn area has been successfully occupied. Last week we noticed a tiny head peeking out from the nest, and to the children’s absolute delight, we discovered not one, but two baby pigeons!

Courtesy of their proud parents, now named Snowy and Smokey, who have been attending to the nest for some weeks, the newest additions have become a wonderful talking point during our sessions. We will enjoy watching them grow, giving us an opportunity to practise patience, observation and appreciation for the small wonders that surround us every day.

These moments of curiosity, connection and discovery are just as valuable as the time spent with the horses, helping children and young people develop mindfulness, awareness, and a deeper connection with the natural world.

We can’t wait to see how our feathered friends progress over the coming weeks! 💚

What an absolute delight to watch such an amazing production, but more importantly to witness one of our young people excel in what she does best!
A privilege to be part of her journey.

Marble….Such a brave pony.
Today Marble had his eye removed due to a condition called uveitis. Having had this diagnosed a few months back the condition has progressively declined, causing Marble much discomfort.
Thank you to Duncan Ballard from B&W Equine for doing a fantastic job, and to my lovely helpers Robyn and Kayleigh for stepping up to support, due to me being very squeamish!!
Marble is recovering well and enjoying some TLC from the lovely Allison.

It never fails to give me goose bumps when our wonderful horses just know when a young person needs to be ‘held’. The connection between these two today was so special.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 💚

At Equine Reflections CIC, we understand the importance of feeling heard, supported, and connected. Horses have an incredible way of helping us slow down, stay present, and explore emotions in a calm and non-judgemental environment.

Mental health is just as important as physical health, and this week is a reminder to be kind to yourself and others. Whether you are struggling, supporting someone else, or simply taking time to recharge, every step towards wellbeing matters.

Our equine assisted sessions offer opportunities to build confidence, reduce anxiety, improve emotional awareness, and reconnect with yourself through meaningful experiences with horses and nature.

Take time this week to check in, reach out, and prioritise your wellbeing. You are not alone. 💚

Good luck to all the amazing Year 6 children starting their SATs this week and to those taking their GCSE 🌟

Remember, these tests are only a small snapshot of what you can do. They do not measure your kindness, creativity, strength, humour or the wonderful person you are becoming.

Take your time, do your best and be proud of how hard you’ve worked 💛

From all of us at Equine Reflections — we believe in you 🐴✨
