How can advocacy protect communities in the future? 🌍

CoMO member Asociación Española Contra La Meningitis (AEM) helped make history, playing a key role in Galicia becoming the first region in Spain to introduce free MenB vaccination before facing an outbreak or public emergency. 💙

Through years of public awareness work, sustained campaigning and collaboration with health authorities, AEM helped influence this landmark decision for young people's protection. 🛡️

Since 2021, the number of members we have around the world has more than doubled. 👀

With such a growing membership, it was time to make sure that how CoMO operates could remain strong, inclusive and effective for all members for the years ahead. 💪

That’s why we recently completed a governance review looking at six key areas of how CoMO operates, including our Advisory Council, our membership model and policies, and our regions.

The review was led by a team that truly represents our global community, including all our Advisory Council regional representatives and Chair. 🤝

The goal was straightforward: to make sure CoMO remains diverse, inclusive, clear and impactful, while staying simple and sustainable to run.

💙 Two people. One life-changing experience. A shared mission that continues today.

When Andy Marso contracted bacterial meningitis at university, his life changed forever.

Andy survived, but not without life-changing consequences. After multiple amputations and years of rehabilitation, he became an award-winning journalist, author and proud CoMO member.

🩺Dr. Leah Luckeroth was the doctor who recognised the signs and acted quickly, helping to save his life. Before treating him, she only knew of meningitis patients who had not survived.

More than 20 years later, they continue to work together to raise awareness, advocate for meningitis vaccination and help protect future generations.

Together, their experiences are a powerful reminder that recognising the signs, acting quickly and preventing meningitis through vaccination can save lives.
