The Project Performance journey is evolving.

This is something I’ve been thinking about and working on for a long time.

Most guys who come to me don’t have a motivation problem.

But the program they were on wasn’t built for their life, too intense too soon, nothing structured for what comes after.

So they stopped.

Project: Performance is different.

Three phases. Built in sequence. Each one preparing you for the next.

25kg down. Stronger at 38 than he’s ever been.

Liam came to me after Covid having gained a lot of weight. He knew something had to change.

The thing is, he was already training. Working hard, even tracking his calories. But he was using a scatter gun approach. Random workouts, no clear program, nothing building on anything else.

Lots of effort. Barely any progress.

The problem wasn’t his motivation. It was that he had no structure behind the effort.

So we built one. Clear training blocks, strength and conditioning progressing together, a system that worked around a new baby and a demanding job without falling apart every time life got busy.

That was four years ago.

25kg lost. Stronger than he’s ever been. Still training consistently, still progressing, still showing up, not because motivation never wavers, but because the system doesn’t rely on it.

That’s the difference between training hard and training smart.

If your training feels scattered and you’re not sure what you should actually be focusing on, DM me PROJECT and I’ll send you the details.

I’ve had a few conversations over the last few weeks with guys who are starting to notice their fitness waning and wanting to start doing more.

Firstly, I think this is awesome.

But if don’t set things up right, your hard fought gym gains will take a hit.

Adapt the structure, get the best of both worlds.

Strength or cardio is a false choice.

And I genuinely wouldn’t have it any other way…

If this is the first you’re hearing of us, you’ve got a back catalogue worth diving into.

If you’ve been here from the start, thank you. Genuinely.

Season 2 is coming.

Strong in the gym. Unfit everywhere else.

Luke had been powerlifting for years — and he was strong. Really strong.

But climbing the stairs was getting harder. Everything felt stiff. And every time he tried to add fitness work, his strength tanked.

He was stuck between two versions of himself and couldn’t find a way to be both.

When we started working together, we didn’t tear up what he’d built. We started by bringing his aerobic base back, easy bike work that didn’t touch his lifting.

Over time we condensed his sessions, made his strength work more efficient, and gradually brought running into the mix.

Strength retained. Fitness rebuilt. Sessions down from 90 minutes to under an hour.

He’s a lawyer. He’s got a 2 year old at home.

Training had to work around his life, not the other way round.

Now he’s the strongest he’s ever been, in the best all-round shape of his life, and confident in his ability as an athlete, not just in the gym, but everywhere else too.

That’s what Project Performance is for.

If you don’t want to choose between being strong and being athletic, DM me PROJECT and I’ll send you the details.

Bristol 10km 🏃 💨

Seems the lethal combo of 8 hot cross buns yesterday and some new trainers did the job. Was aiming for 45mins going into this, so very chuffed with this 🙏🏼

Thank you for the support 😍

Not my usual Wednesday.

Normally it’s dad mode with Ollie.

Today I got some 1-1 time with my own dad, hiking the Welsh hills and mapping out the route we’re running in a few weeks as a client experience day.

Lush day 🙏🏼

I talked myself out of this session about 15 times.

Running Bristol 10km next weekend.

Been putting in two runs a week consistently, intervals on the treadmill mostly, which is mentally easier. Set the pace, hold on, done.

This week I couldn’t get to the gym. Options were: run around a windy field, or push it to later in the week.

The resistance I felt just because the setup was different? Embarrassing, honestly.

But here’s the thing, I still fall into the same trap.

Optimal or nothing.

If the conditions aren’t right, the brain looks for an exit.

Done beat perfect today. It’ll beat it tomorrow too.

Mobility doesn’t need its own session.

Pick 1-2 accessory exercises that load through a big range of motion. Progress range before you chase load or reps.

Good for building muscle. Good for building mobility. No extra time in the gym.

Bang for buck training 💪🏼
