Happy International Nurses’ Day.

Today, we’re celebrating the incredible contribution of nursing in the UK and across the world.

I entered nursing in 1993 …
Student nurse.
Ward staff.
Ward sister.
Research nurse.
Vascular specialist nurse
Hospital at Night.
Nurse practitioner
Aesthetic practitioner.

Different uniforms. Different departments. Different challenges.
But always the same purpose — caring for people.
Years of night shifts, busy wards, emergency bleeps, teamwork, pressure, learning and growth have all shaped the journey.
Every role carried lessons. Every badge carried memories. Every chapter built resilience, compassion and experience that still stays with me today.
Nursing never really leaves you — it becomes part of how you think, work and care for others in every environment you step into.
Today, I’m especially grateful for my colleagues and carers — across hospitals, care homes, clinics, community care and every setting in between — for the compassion, strength and dedication you show every single day 💙

A very informative listen!!

Here are my clinically proven recommendations and some of the favourites in clinic!

SPF!!! First and foremost!
Choose a mineral SPF rather than chemical, they protect immediately, gentler on skin, and help prevent photoaging by reflecting UV rays rather than absorbing them like chemical sunscreens.

💥WARNING incoming rant!!!💥

Women’s health should not feel like a fight!!
Yet time and time again, I hear the same stories from my patients, friends and family, where symptoms are dismissed, concerns minimised, and life-changing treatments delayed or denied.

Women are told to “just cope,” to accept exhaustion, anxiety, brain fog, or debilitating symptoms as something they simply have to live with.
This is not good enough.

Menopause care and hormone health are not optional extras — they are fundamental to quality of life, long-term health, and wellbeing.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is not experimental or controversial when prescribed appropriately — it is evidence-based, best practice care that can be truly life-changing.
Women deserve to be listened to, taken seriously and have access to the right information and the right treatment — without having to battle for it.

Women’s health is not “just hormones.”
But when hormones are the issue, ignoring them is not acceptable.

🩺 Management of misplaced filler

This patient presented with previously placed chin filler from another practitioner, with evidence of:
• Misplacement
• Migration
• Superficial product
• Excess volume affecting contour and obscured projection
💉 Why hyaluronidase (Hyalase)?
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme used to selectively break down hyaluronic acid–based dermal fillers. When administered appropriately, it allows for controlled dissolution of unwanted or poorly integrated filler, restoring baseline anatomy.
⏳ Why we wait at least 2 weeks before re-filling
A minimum two-week interval is clinically important to:
✔️ Allow post-dissolve inflammation and oedema to resolve
✔️ Permit tissue recovery
✔️ Allow the body to naturally replenish its own hyaluronic acid
✔️ Accurately reassess true anatomical structure and volume deficit
💉 Re-treatment (if indicated)
Once tissues have stabilised, filler can be reintroduced conservatively and anatomically to achieve:
• Improved contour and projection
• More predictable outcomes
• Reduced product requirement
• Enhanced safety
⚠️ Immediate re-filling post-dissolution risks distortion, compromised placement, and suboptimal results.
Anatomy, timing, and safety should always guide aesthetic practice.
