Around 1,200 cataract operations take place every day in the UK, yet more than 3.5 million people are living with sight loss caused by cataracts.

After being diagnosed with early age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Heather began making lifestyle changes to help manage her condition and protect her sight. From adapting to blurred vision to researching nutrition and eye health, she’s determined to stay positive and proactive.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Bristol Eye Bank NHS Organ Donation for their continued support of Sight Research UK. 💚

As part of their 40th anniversary celebrations, the team held a bake sale fundraiser and raised an amazing £165 towards pioneering eye research.

It was wonderful to visit the team in person to thank them and celebrate the long-standing connection between Bristol Eye Bank and Sight Research UK, both founded by Professor David Easty in 1986.

Every fundraiser, conversation and act of support helps move eye research forward for people living with sight loss.
