Before I fall asleep I thought it best to wish you all a happy new year.
2025 wasn’t a great year, all in all, but I am confident 2026 will be better.
Yesterday we stopped to watch people ice skate. Cruelly we were watching it just to see how many people may fall over, but very soon I noticed a little girl in green, she was skating round and round at speed, wobbling and waving her arms all over the place, then she fell, she jumped straight up and whizzed round again, dodging people who got in her way, she fell again and jumped straight up……and so the cycle continued.
I lost count how many times she fell and got back up. She didn’t cry, she didn’t dwell, sh just go up and carried on. On the occasions she managed to stop her fall with a spin she clapped herself.
I watched this girl for 45 minutes and I smiled. She didn’t give a s**t. She was fearless, she was determined and there was no stopping her. She reminded me of the carefree, fearless attitude we all had at her age. That attitude that we were invincible and everything was going to work out……a belief we all lost as we ‘grew up’.
So tonight I raise a glass to the little girl in green, may we all be more like her in 2026.
