The news. The endless scrolling. The 'need' to have more, be more, do more... Our lives seem so stressful at the moment and to be honest, it's pretty exhausting.
In my journey to calm my nervous system, I really like the ideas of gadgets and supplements to help me feel more calm and in some cases I have found getting more 'stuff' can help. Magnesium and B vits were a biggy for me and meditation/ yoga apps also helped too BUT...
What I find to HANDS DOWN positively impacts my stress levels, mood, nervous system and brain health the most...
πΏπ³ Getting into nature π³πΏ
It's like my whole body takes a huge exhale
My shoulders relax
My brain slows down
And things just become simpler
The things that grab my attention are shapes and shadows rather than depressing headlines and pointless reels.
You're forced to listen to birdsongs and the rustle of leaves over 'baby shark' and radio ads π«
Life is simpler and the body recognises that as feeling safe. Hence why it's so much easier to move into our rest and digest state. My little boy is sooo much calmer when he's in nature too.
Whether it's splashing your feet in water, hunting down the final blackberries this season or just walking under trees, I'm pretty sure your nervous system will thank you for it.
What's your favourite thing to do in nature to de-stress?
