Impactful but relevant engagement and training for our young people.

Amazing work by the team delivering blunt truth, and to Backwell School for facilitating such a crucial message

As part of the sessions, students were also introduced to potentially life-saving emergency equipment, including a public access bleed kit and red emergency dispenser. Providing young people with the knowledge of how to recognise an emergency, access equipment and respond before emergency services arrive is a vital part of building safer communities.

Year 9 Blunt Truth Session

Last week, our Year 9 students took part in the Blunt Truth knife crime awareness sessions, delivering a powerful and thought-provoking message about the realities and consequences of carrying a knife. The sessions were both informative and impactful, helping students to understand the serious legal, personal and social implications of knife crime, as well as the devastating effect it can have on individuals, families and communities. Delivered in an engaging and age-appropriate way, the talks encouraged students to reflect on their choices, challenge misconceptions, and build the confidence to make safe, positive decisions.

🚒🩸 Bleed Kit Rollout Across Avon – Making Communities Safer 🩸🚒

A huge thank you to Avon Fire & Rescue Service who have been busy installing and registering the 21 bleed kits they have generously funded for fire stations across the Avon area 🙌💙

These lifesaving kits are a vital resource for the public, giving communities fast access to equipment that can help control severe bleeding in an emergency ❤️⏱️

🚑🩸 Community Safety Update – Somerton Fire Station 🩸🚑

We’re proud to share that the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership has donated a lifesaving bleed control kit to Somerton Fire Station in Somerset 🙌🔥

This is another important step in making vital emergency equipment more accessible to our communities – helping to give people the tools they need to act quickly and save lives in critical moments ❤️

We’re also excited to announce that we’ve begun conversations with Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service about expanding the partnership 🤝 With the aim of placing a 24/7 publicly accessible bleed kit at every fire station across their area – just like the fantastic model already in place with Avon Fire & Rescue Service 🔥💪

🚨 EXCITING NEWS!!! 🚓 🚒

We’re proud to celebrate Avon Fire & Rescue Service joining the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership.

This collaboration now brings together Avon & Somerset Police, South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, HeartSafe, and many other partners, all working towards the shared goal of improving public access to lifesaving emergency equipment across our communities.

As part of their commitment, Avon Fire & Rescue Service have funded 21 bleed kits, which are now being installed at fire stations across the area. These kits will provide 24/7 unrestricted and immediately accessible emergency equipment for local communities when every second counts.

PC Daniel Moulden, Coordinator of the Avon and Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership, said:

“It is fantastic to welcome Avon Fire & Rescue Service into the partnership and to see all three emergency services working together alongside our charity and community partners.

The installation of these additional bleed kits across the area is another huge step forward in improving public access to lifesaving equipment and helping communities respond in those critical moments before emergency services arrive.”

🚨 785 Community Bleed Kits Now Installed Across Avon and Somerset 🚨

We are proud to announce that 785 publicly accessible bleed kits have now been installed across Avon and Somerset through the Avon & Somerset Bleed Kit Partnership.

These life-saving kits are available 24/7 in unlocked cabinets, ensuring immediate public access in an emergency where every second counts.

This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support of our partners, charities, businesses, councils, community organisations and volunteers who have funded, hosted and supported these installations across the region. Thank you for helping us make our communities safer.

The partnership model includes:

• Unlocked cabinets accessible to the public at all times
• Neighbourhood police officers and Guardians monitoring kits
• Kit registration through the partnership’s UK mapping system
• HeartSafe Community Bleed Kits approved by the NHS
• Body Mapping Cards approved by the NHS and SWASFT
• Bleed kits specifically designed for untrained bystanders
• The only Community Bleed Kit clinically approved by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT)

These kits are designed to empower members of the public to act quickly and confidently before emergency services arrive, helping save lives from catastrophic bleeding.

🚑⚽ Exciting Update at Weston-super-Mare Football Club ⚽🚑

We’re proud to announce the addition of a new bleed control kit at Weston-super-Mare FC — an important step forward in keeping everyone at our ground safer.

While these kits are often associated with serious incidents, it’s important to recognise their everyday value in a sporting environment.

Football, like many sports, carries a risk of cuts, knocks, and injuries that can result in significant bleeding. Whether it’s a collision on the pitch, a training ground accident, or even a slip in the stands, having the right equipment close at hand can make a life-saving difference.

Bleed kits are designed to help anyone—first responders, staff, volunteers, or even fellow spectators—act quickly and effectively in those crucial first moments before medical professionals arrive.

By equipping the club with this resource, they’re helping to:
✅ Improve immediate injury response during matches and training
✅ Support player and spectator welfare
✅ Build confidence among staff and volunteers to act in emergencies
✅ Promote a culture of preparedness and community safety

This is about more than rare or extreme incidents — it’s about being ready for the reality of everyday injuries in busy sports settings.

👏 A big thank you to Bristol Neighbourhood Policing

During Operation Sceptre, officers have been out checking multiple bleed kits across the city 🚓🩺

While doing so, they came across a kit that had been removed and the dispenser badly damaged. The team went above and beyond 💪—clearing off all the graffiti 🎨, carrying out repairs 🔧, and making sure the unit was safe again.

A new bleed kit pouch has now been ordered ✅ so it will be fully ready for public use should it ever be needed ❤️
