I just wanted to take this moment to wish you a happy Monday. There's been lots happening over this bank holiday weekend from Forwards festival here in Bristol, Notting Hill Carnival, Reading, Leeds, Shambala festival and lots of other gathering for the final bank holiday of the year. I hope you've had some sunshine alongside the rainy bits.
What have I been up to? I've had two days of delicious downtime, time alone catching up with myself, I've given myself time to reflect, to restore- it was needed. It's felt good to engage in some reading, some exploration and personal study as it feels like too long since I last committed to pursuits such as these. Don't get me wrong, I've had some marvelous times and wonderful experiences, but this is what's needed right now.
And you? How have you been? What have you been up to? Let me know ๐Ÿ˜Š
Something that came to me yesterday in a moment of pondering was the need to remember gratitude.
We may not think it at times but we are blessed. We are alive, we have freedom (in comparison to others). When we witness all that is unfolding before us such as war, loss of life, injustice; it's important to say thanks for the things we take for granted like a roof over our heads, access to water, to food and the like.
Stay blessed beautiful people.
My Weds offering at will resume next week on the 9th September.
The next Self care Session for Women is happening Sat 3rd Oct -where we'll acknowledge and honour the changing of the seasons- do check the link in my bio for more info/booking details.

Many magical moments at Medicine Festival:
โœจWorking in a juice bar with some awesome folk including the rather fab , great to hang out with you girlfriend.
โœจEnjoying the many forms of Movement Medicine including a Kundalini practice with the Jai Dev Singh ( it was a moment meeting him having followed Life Force Academy online for a no of years.
โœจDancing - lots of it. Under stars, in spaces with like minded souls
โœจMeeting, interacting and connecting with many beautiful souls whilst queuing for a shower!
โœจThe most wonderful decorations created often with natural materials.
โœจBeing in an alcohol free environment. I proved to myself years ago that I don't need to have it on tap to enjoy myself. I call it pure joy.
Yes, there were some issues which the medicine festival have addressed on their page. Would I return again? Absolutely ๐Ÿ’œ
I do feel blessed to have had some amazing times and experiences this year. And you? Have you had some memorable moments?

'No-one is better than you, and you're not better than anyone else'...
I like these simple words of wisdom shared by Stewart Gilchrist before we embarked on a yoga practice - a fast flowing dynamic vinyasa kinda practice.
As we moved through the practice we were periodically reminded of this.
I feel like these words acted as a leveler to anyone that might need it including me, as this practice was different to what I'd normally do. 'No-one is better than you, and you're not better than anyone else'.
In life and on the yoga mat we can get caught up in comparing ourselves to others. If only we realised it really doesn't matter because your (yoga) journey is personal to you ๐Ÿค—โœจ
Words to live by, both on and off the mat.
I'm still basking in the joy of all that the World Yoga Festival is about- what a time had at this amazing gathering. So much learning, joy and beautiful memories made with like minded folk. . Every year simply gets better and better alongside me going deeper in my yoga journeyโœจ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

The many sides of Morocco.
I had the most wonderful time there with many beautiful experiences that will stay with me.
It was my first time visiting and I'm so looking forward to returning and discovering more about this magnificent melting pot.
To spend time at Gnaoua festival and absorb the music, the surroundings, the vibe and the atmosphere. And after that yoga retreating for a good few days. My kinda perfect ๐Ÿค—
Observing horses moving with ease alongside cars and mopeds on the sometimes busy streets, donkeys carrying goods, the diversity of the people, goat herders, the Medina, the Senegalese community, the bustling night Market which I found amazing which was super busy with soo many people- I guess temperatures are cooler at this time. L.. Anyhow, I loved it.
Magical Morocco. I do believe I've left a little of my heart there....
My reminder to myself is to keep discovering new places.
The joyful person in one of the photos is Debbie who shared some beautiful yoga practices with us - thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

The yoga practices I share is an invitation to slow down, turn inward abd take the time to (re) connect a little more to you.
Get to know yourself a little more with some body breath connection.
No class this week as I'm replenishing - yoga retreating in Morocco.

Soaking up the atmosphere and having one of many beautiful moment at a Gnawa festival in Morocco.
An absolute treat and new experience for me having never experienced Morocco or the festival before.
I don't much about the roots of Gnawa as a tradition however I know it to be both spiritual and devotional at its roots.
To watch families, folks of all different ages fully immersed was a awe inspiring to be a part of.

I'd completed 6 months of my first yoga teacher training course when I decided to quit my job as I'd come to realise that it was making me really unwell.
I didn't realise to what extent until I left.
And upon leaving, my body broke down. Fully. Unapologetically.
Up to that point, I didn't realise how much stress and tension I was holding in my body until I resigned from a job that I'd held for 11 years. My body simply took a deep exhale and LET GO COMPLETELY.
I was barely able to do the physical postures/asana. I believe the universe had a plan! And part of that plan was to stop me completely in my tracks.
And because I could barely move, I started to focus my study on Pranayama. I started to practice various breathing exercises every day (I wasn't working because I simply couldnt). I realise it was 'burn out' thet I was going through.
I'd practise whilst rotating my hot water bottle from my back, to my hamstring, to my quad muscle! - the 3 areas I was experiencing stuff like tightness and pain that I'd previously not experienced before.
Focusing on breath work meant I was fully immersed in learning and practicing; it took me in an inward journey where nothing else mattered in that moment.
I'm uncertain how long, however over a period of time I experienced a gradual transformation; the tension and tightness started to dissipate and eventually, I got to a place where I was able to resume my physical practice.
What I share in my classes is informed my this experience. The process of slowing down and tuning into the body and the breath. I love to share breath work because I know it works.
This was the beginning of my journey of getting to know myself. It took a long time to come back to me, but I did....
Final part to follow soon.
Do you have a challenging time in your life that you've overcome? That you've come out on the other side of? Maybe you're not quite there yet? Let me know in comments.
Yoga is happening this Weds 6-7 pm . It's a beautiful community where you'd be so welcome.
Love Lena ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ

How did I get here?
The question I was asked about my journey that led me teaching yoga...
It was a great question to be asked by someone that had recently embarked on her own journey to become a physiotherapist.
It was a timely reminder that I've come a long way and where I am in this moment is exactly where I need to be.
But, I really did ponder the question of how I got here, and how I arrived at this place in my life journey....
Back in 2015/16 I decided with the encouragement of a friend to embark on my first Yoga teacher training - a foundational 200 hours with Soma Yoga now known as Soulworx.
My foremost intention wasn't to teach yoga, it was more about deepening my knowledge. Truth be told, I didn't feel I was disciplined enough to become a yoga teacher with lifestyle choices, that sort of thing. Anyhow I did it and it was amazing, and was to be the start of a wonderful journey of transformation.
And that was the thing... before embarking on my teacher training, I told myself I needed to a certain type of person with a certain mindset and way of living and being; however, I came to realise that this wasn't the case as yoga invites you to come as you are with your perfect imperfections because it's simply part of the journey to becoming.....
So, I guess what I'm saying is don't wait for the perfect moment before embarking on your hearts desires- that moment may never come. Take steps towards it and see what happens. And, let me know if you do ๐Ÿ’œ
Yoga is happening tomorrow 6-7 pm at St George Community Centre where the invitation is always to come as you are, to do what feels right for you, to get to know your body, and develop your relationship with yoga.
If you've never practiced with me before, your first class is ยฃ5.00 ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿค—

Hey Beautiful People

I just wanted to remind you of our Gathering happening this Saturday at the usual time of 12:15 to 15:15 at St George CC Church Rd BS5; it's the most wonderful space as it overlooks St George park.

Thank you to all of you that have booked so far; there are still some spaces available for anyone still thinking about it. This will be the last one until we gather again in Autumn- however, let's look to the Now - the Present Moment!!

We're currently in Flower Moon Season; on the day of our coming together we will be entering the first day of Blue Moon Season and it's also a New Moon which is a perfect time for Intention Setting- bringing in the new, making stuff happen, tapping into your creativity, taking steps towards your dreams, goals, desires and the like......

Our last Self care Session in March reflected on it being the year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese calendar and some of the things associated with it which include movement, momentum and forward motion...but also a little reminder that a canter or a slower pace is just as good as a gallop!

I find this to be the most beautiful time of year; it's a time of plenty where everything in Nature is flourishing, everything around us is bursting with life.

There is sooo much available to us at this time of year- if you look to plants to offer you guidance. I believe plants come at just the right time when we need them.

In a fast paced world that seemingly encourages us to keep going and keep doing, this is your invitation to come as you are, where you can give yourself permission to retreat and come home to yourself, to (re)connect with yourself and have some 'head in the clouds' time...

If you've never experienced one of these gatherings before, know that they are magical. It's You that creates the magic โœจ๐Ÿ’œโœจ
If you'd like to know more of what to expect comment 'MAGIC' in the comments - I'll send you more info. Also you can check my link in the bio.

Sometimes it's easy to forget what's available to us that can provide us with what we need. For example:

My skin was tingling and a tad sore in places- possibly due to bites (bugs love my skin), maybe a touch of heat rash.. Whatever the reason my skin was reacting.

I thought about buying an antihistamine cream to help relieve my symptoms, and then I remembered that I'd bought a small amount of aloe vera gel with me. I rubbed it on my skin and its cooling effect was soothing, offering me some relief. Yay.

AND what grows in abundance here in Gran Canaria? Yep you guessed it- Aloe Vera. A little reminder for me that sometimes exactly what we need is on our doorstep- literally!

In case you're interested, here are some of its benefits:

โœจIt acts as a natural antibacterial.
โœจSpeeds up wound healing.
โœจDeeply hydrates the skin.
โœจSoothes minor burns and sunburns.
โœจCalms skin irritations.
โœจRelieves eczema symptoms.
โœจReduces redness.
โœจFades dark spots
I'm not familiar with all these benefits, if it's worked for you do let me know...
Btw, I'm not saying you should disregard what you might have in your medicine cabinet, I simply feel it's good to be aware of alternatives or what you might use in addition ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
