☀️💚 Chasing the Sunshine 💚☀️

One of our lovely ladies enjoying some time out in the community, making the most of the sunshine and the peaceful surroundings. With the water flowing in the background and the sun shining overhead, it was a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the moment.

With the recent weather being a little less generous, it's safe to say we're missing these sunny days already! 🌦️

🏡 What do families wish they had known about supported living?

Moving into supported living can be a significant milestone for both the individual and their family. It often brings a mixture of hope, excitement and understandable questions about what the future might look like.

In our latest blog, we explore some of the things families frequently tell us they wish they had understood sooner, including:

• Why independence doesn't mean being left alone

• The importance of relationships and consistency

• Why progress often takes time

• How families continue to play a vital role

• What quality of life really looks like in supported living

At its heart, supported living is about much more than accommodation. It is about helping people live meaningful lives, make choices, build confidence and feel connected to their communities.

Whether you are a family member, professional, or simply interested in learning more about supported living, we hope this blog provides some useful insight.

🎥 Have You Seen Our Video: “5 Misconceptions About Social Care”?

Social care is still surrounded by too many outdated myths.

👉That it is “unskilled work.”
👉That there is no career progression.
👉That all providers are the same.
👉That care only happens in institutions.
👉That social care is not fun.

We take the time to challenge some of the above misconceptions and shine a light on what modern social care is really about.

Social care is skilled, meaningful and deeply person-centred. It involves supporting people with complex needs, promoting independence, enabling choice, building relationships, advocating for people’s rights, and helping individuals live fulfilling lives within their communities.

At 3 Trees, we are proud to support adults with learning disabilities across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and we are equally proud of the professionalism, compassion and commitment shown by our team every day.

This video is a reminder that social care is not simply about tasks. It is about people, outcomes, dignity, opportunity, joy and belonging.

Have you seen it yet?

💚 Kindness in Action 💚

This week, we would like to give a huge shout out to the incredible team supporting D.

Following a recent visit from the dietician, we are delighted to share that D is maintaining a healthy weight and continues to look really well. Even more positively, D’s oral intake is currently going so well that Fortisips are not needed at this time - a fantastic outcome that reflects the consistency, attentiveness and quality of support being provided each day.

The dietician was extremely pleased with D’s progress, and this is a real credit to the team’s dedication, encouragement and person-centred approach to care.

Supporting someone’s health and wellbeing often involves many small, consistent actions behind the scenes, encouragement during meals, careful monitoring, good communication, teamwork, and understanding individual needs and preferences. These efforts truly matter, and positive outcomes like this do not happen by accident.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting D. Your compassion, commitment and teamwork are making a genuine difference every single day. 💫

🚤⚓ Captain for the Day ⚓🚤

One of our lovely ladies enjoying a very special moment during our recent trip with the The Willow Trust where she was able to take the helm and have the opportunity to steer the boat herself!

Experiences like this are about so much more than just a day out. They’re about confidence, inclusion, independence and creating meaningful memories that people can truly enjoy and be proud of.

The Willow Trust’s fully accessible narrowboats help make these opportunities possible, ensuring everyone has the chance to experience the freedom and enjoyment of being out on the water.

A huge thank you to the team , and to our amazing staff who continue to support the people we work with to experience new opportunities and make lasting memories 💚

🛡️ Keeping Staff Safe Policy🛡️

At 3 Trees, we believe that high-quality care begins with people feeling safe, respected and supported at work.

This week, we are highlighting our Keeping Staff Safe Response Policy, which sets out how we respond to disrespectful behaviour, aggression, violence and abuse towards our teams.

Working in social care can sometimes involve emotionally complex situations, particularly when supporting people experiencing distress, trauma, communication difficulties or behaviours that challenge. While we always seek to understand the reasons behind behaviour, we also maintain a clear position:

➡️ Abuse towards staff is never simply accepted as “part of the job.”

Our policy promotes a balanced and person-centred approach that protects both the people we support and the wellbeing of our workforce. This includes:

✔ Risk assessing potential aggression and violence
✔ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation approaches
✔ Lone working safeguards
✔ Clear reporting and investigation processes
✔ Ongoing staff training and emotional support
✔ Learning from incidents to improve safety and care planning

Importantly, our teams are trained to respond calmly, professionally and with dignity, always aiming to reduce escalation and maintain safe environments for everyone involved.

We also recognise the emotional impact that verbal abuse and aggression can have on care staff. Supporting our workforce through reflective conversations, follow-up support and ongoing training is an important part of maintaining a healthy and compassionate care culture.

At 3 Trees, safeguarding is not only about protecting the people we support, it is also about protecting the people who support them.

☀️🌿 Moments of Peace

One of our lovely ladies enjoying a quiet moment in the sunshine, taking time to sit, reflect and simply appreciate the view across Bristol.

Life can often feel busy and fast-paced, which is why moments of calm and contemplation are so important for wellbeing. Whether it’s enjoying the warmth of the sun, listening to the world around us or simply having space to think, these quieter moments can be incredibly meaningful.

At 3 Trees, we recognise that wellbeing is not always about activity and stimulation, sometimes it’s about peace, presence and having the opportunity to slow down and savour the moment 💚
