Most athletes who hit a plateau aren't lacking effort. They're lacking information.

A big thank you and an even bigger goodbye💙

Alicia is moving on from ALIXR and onto her next adventure, and we couldn't be more excited for her.

As our Sports Scientist, Alicia was the person behind the data. She conducted every performance test, gathered every data point, and turned complex physiology into reports that actually made sense to the athletes sitting in front of her.

She brought warmth and genuine passion to everything she did at ALIXR. The bar she set is one we'll be working hard to match.

We're so proud of everything she achieved here and so excited to watch what she does next.

Most athletes we test aren’t undertrained. They’re mis-trained.

They’re putting in the sessions, hitting their mileage, showing up consistently week after week. On paper, they’re doing everything right.

But something isn’t clicking, and they can’t work out why.

Here’s what we almost always find when we look at the data.

Their perceived effort and their actual physiological response are completely misaligned. They think they’re working hard enough on their easy days. They’re not.

They think they’re recovering between efforts. They aren’t. They’re training in the grey zone, not easy enough to build their aerobic base, not hard enough to drive real adaptation.

The programme has shifted. And Paul Richards is exactly where he needs to be.

As a 51 year old firefighter chasing two major goals: the British Firefighter Challenge on 25th July and a Hyrox mens doubles PB before the year is out.

When Paul came in for testing, the data was clear. His threshold zones and top end effort levels needed the most work. For an event he describes as "essentially a short, all out sprint from start to finish"...that information changed everything.

The biggest challenge has been, in his own words, "shifting away from the longer, steady zone 2 sessions I'm naturally comfortable with."

Brutal, high intensity work alongside a demanding career has pushed him out of his comfort zone. But that, as Paul says, is "where I've seen the most growth."

The proof is in the numbers.

His 400m interval times are dropping and he is becoming, comfortable with being uncomfortable.
