This week is Volunteers' Week, and I want to take a moment to highlight the amazing work so many volunteers do and say a huge thank you to just two of the organisations I'm privileged to give some of energised time and support too,
As a Business Mentor with The King's Trust, I get to walk alongside young people who are building something of their own – often against the odds. It's one of the most rewarding things I do, and I learn as much as I give.
And Raleigh International – the charity behind some of the most transformative experiences in young people's lives, which I experienced at 18yrs old and totally changed my life. I’ve run and fundraised for Raleigh over the years, because adventure and purpose make a powerful combination.
Weekly I love volunteering with parkrun and would would totally recommend it, everyone is welcome, you don't need to be able to run, just show up and you will be welcomed, I promise you. With the Marmalade Trust I visit a wonderful elderly person, Vera in her 90's for conversation and connection,
There are so many amazing people I have met through volunteering, from Olympics Games, to Youth in the community, adventure races and medical events, life really is a circle of support,
If you volunteer somewhere – formally or quietly, consistently or occasionally, please know it makes a difference. Your time, your experience, your presence. It matters more than you realise.
Happy Volunteers' Week to everyone giving their time. Love to know what you do and who helps you, a circle of support,
