It’s hard to put into words what Picnic has meant to all of us. We opened it over 3 years ago, wanting to create a space that felt fun, safe and welcoming for everyone. Somewhere people could get tattooed but also somewhere for people to feel at home. 🏠
So much happened in our little Stokes Croft studio during these three years… thousands of tattoos, guests from all over the world, workshops, art markets, film events 🥹
We are so happy and proud with what we created. But things change and all good things come to an end 🎀. This year our rent increased by 30%, at the same time as all of us have been growing in a million different directions… new projects, businesses, travelling, guest spots, illustration, making things, learning things, and generally figuring out what we want the next few years of our lives to look like.
And eventually, having a big studio and a big rent to pay every month stopped feeling freeing and started feeling like something we were having to organise our creativity and life around.
There are so many wonderful tattoo studios in Bristol, luckily you will still be able to book with all of us, we just won’t work in the same room anymore ❤️🩹
Picnic did exactly what we hoped it would do. It gave us a place to grow, experiment, learn meet some incredible people and build a community.
Maybe Picnic will exist again one day, in another place or another form. Who knows!!! We’re always full of idea 🥹For now, we’re choosing to leave it while we still love it and we don’t know it to turn into something that adds stress to our lives. It’s about knowing when to stop something even if it’s sad and hard ❤️
Thank you to every artist who worked here, every guest who visited, everyone who came to a market or workshop, everyone who got tattooed here, and everyone who helped make Picnic feel like home. ❤️
You still have until October 18th to book a tattoo at Picnic before we empty it and give our keys back ❤️
