Gut Freedom Claire Ainsworth | Functional Nutrition | Registered Dietitian

Hi, I’m Claire - a former police officer turned gut health dietitian.

Registered Dietitian | Functional Nutrition

I use a combination of science 🧬 and spirit🪬to help you overcome unpredictable bowels, skin flares, brain fog, headaches & more - so you can learn to trust your body again & get back to eating without fear. ✨ During my 15 years on the frontline, my own gut struggles became impossible to ignore. What started as a search for symptom relief became a deeper healing journey - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. That journey led me to retrain as a dietitian, study functional medicine, and step into work that truly lights me up. Now I support others to take back control of their health, starting with the gut - and reconnect with the most authentic version of themselves to live a life of freedom and adventure without being held back.

At this point, I’m willing to try anything.

Drop your manifestation rituals in the comments - I’ll try them all and report back on which ones work.✨

This client came to me having already been through what felt like every test imaginable:

Allergy testing.
Liver panels.
Nutritional blood markers.
Hormone levels.
More specialist allergy checks.
Histamine intolerance tests.

Everything kept coming back “normal”.

But his symptoms were still very real - and his diet was getting more and more restrictive because he was scared of triggering another reaction.

So we didn’t just talk about food.

We talked about his work. His sleep. His stress. His faith. What was happening in his life when the symptoms first appeared.

And there was a pretty significant clue:
👉🏼They started during one of the most stressful periods of his life.

But when I suggested focusing on stress reduction, I could hear he was skeptical.

He’d done a LOT of his own research. He liked data.

He wanted to understand what was happening in his body and see something tangible behind the recommendations I was making.

So we ran the GI Effects stool test.

And most of what we looked at came back… green. 🟢

That wasn’t £400 wasted.

The data gave him confidence -

Confidence to stop assuming every reaction meant another food needed to go.

Confidence to gradually start bringing foods back in.

Confidence to expand a diet that had become incredibly restricted.

And, perhaps most importantly, confidence to start trusting his body again.

Sometimes testing shows us exactly what needs our attention.

And sometimes its value is showing us where we don’t need to keep looking — so we can finally start moving forward. 🤍

Gut issues can change so much more than what you eat.

They can change how safe you feel in your body, how spontaneous you are, how you connect with people, how much you trust yourself and even the future you envision.

But those things aren’t necessarily who you are.

They might just be layers you picked up while trying to protect yourself. 🤍

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about finding your way back to you.

⬇️ Which of these landed the most for you?

The endless list of things to manage when you’re on a gut healing journey is exhausting.

It keeps us stuck in our heads, always hyper-vigilant, unable to soften and relax into our bodies.

But true healing comes from feminine, heart-centred energy.

So for the final step of the September Reset, we’re moving out of the head and dropping into the heart.

This is about giving yourself a moment to feel, receive and release. 💚

Save these prompts for your next journalling session:

✨ What do I need to allow myself to feel that I’ve been avoiding?

✨ Where could I offer myself or somebody else more compassion?

✨ What am I ready to forgive or release — without excusing what happened?

✨ How comfortable am I receiving love, help, kindness or support?

✨ If my heart could write me a letter, what would it say?

Create some space, get curious, and listen to what your heart has to say. You might be surprised by what comes up.

And after a whole month of focusing on the
Digest | Nourish | Align pillars of the September Reset - your final invitation is this:

Less doing. More being. 💚

Gut health isn’t just about the food on your plate 🤍

Feeling connected and supported can help regulate our stress response — and that matters for digestion because chronic stress can influence gut motility, sensitivity, permeability and even our microbiome.

But connection can help bring our nervous system back towards a state where we feel safe, supported and able to rest.

And this doesn’t have to mean having a partner.

🤍 Arrange time with someone you love
📵 Have a proper conversation without phones or distractions
🫶 Ask for support instead of automatically doing everything yourself
🤗 Give or receive physical affection
🌎 Connect with a group or community

Sometimes expanding your world starts with the smallest moments of connection.

🗣️ What does connection look like for you - and do you notice a difference in your gut when you’re feeling connected vs isolated? LMK in the comments.

In my September Reset we’ve spent the past 3 weeks stacking simple habits to support our gut health.

Week 1: Proper chewing + stress management
Week 2: Building balanced meals + daily movement
Week 3: Activating the MMC + prioritising sleep

And this week we’re expanding our variety by trying new foods or finding new ways to enjoy our safe foods.

🥬 Try adding fruit / veg / nuts / seeds that you wouldn’t normally buy to 2 meals this week.
🫚 Cook familiar foods with new herbs or spices
🍳 Use a different cooking method - eg cooked veg instead of raw, or roasting veg instead of boiling it.

You can still grab a free copy of the complete September Reset guide until the end of the month - just comment RESET and I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

In case you need reminding 👇🏼

Your body is a wonderful, intelligent being that is naturally designed to heal and repair itself.

The moment I realised that, is truly when everything started to shift for me.

I stopped being so afraid of my symptoms, and started being curious about what they might be trying to tell me.

I started listening to my body instead of forcing it to do what society was telling me it ought to be doing.

I dropped the hustle culture - for good!

And slowly, I found the courage to try expanding my diet again. Little by little. Testing my tolerance, then pausing to see how my body handled it.

And now, after more than a decade of living with food intolerances, I’ve managed to ditch the list of “safe foods” and I’m back to eating the foods I loved without restriction. 🙌🏼

And that’s how I know it’s possible for you, too.
