Importance of lymphatic Drainage
Our lymphatic system is how our bodies remove toxins and disease causing viruses and bacteria. It transports our lymphatic fluid, which is filled with the immune cells our body uses to fight disease. The only way for our lymphatic fluid to move is through exercise or direct massage.
In addition to exercise and massage, our lymphatic system is greatly improved by consumption of alkalizing foods, like nuts and vegetables as well as good hydration. Poor nutrition, dehydration, lack of exercise and lack of massage leads to congested lymph pathways that can cause soreness, aches, pains and flu-like symptoms. Lymphatic massage unclogs our lymphatic system system, helping us return naturally to good health.
The lymphatic system is manually cleansed in a clockwise motion in a series of six stages, or as part of a complete detoxification program. This form of massage has been repeatedly demonstrated to help our body heal itself!
The proper functioning of our lymphatic system is critical to our bodies defensive abilities. Lymph fluid not only detoxifies our bodies, filters our viruses and bacteria, it also helps regenerate our body itself, helping us feel and look younger!
The Lymphatic Draining Massage itself is gentle, using expert wave like movements that are light to stimulate movement and functioning of the entire lymphatic system.
MANY Benefits of lymphatic massage include:
• Reduction in oedemas (swelling) and lymphodemas of various origins.
• Detoxification of the body.
• Relief of numerous chronic and sub-acute inflammations, including sinusitis, bronchitis and otitis.
• Relief of chronic pain.
• Regeneration of tissue, including burns, wounds, stretch marks and wrinkles.
• Stimulation of the immune system.

What happens in a typical Massage session?
The lymphatic massage therapist will ask questions about your medical history; general health and lifestyle. This will help her decide which movements are most appropriate for you as an individual. A session lasts for 45 to 60 minutes, and costs between £30 and £40.

Post Treatment Advice
In order to get the most out of your lymphatic drainage massage treatment and to aid the healing process, it is advisable to:
• Drink plenty of water. This helps flush out the toxins that have been released from your cells into your lymphatic system.
• Eat a light diet. This is to prevent energy needed for healing from going to your stomach to digest a heavy meal! Eat raw foods such as fruit, nuts and vegetables if possible for vitality and cleansing effects.
• Avoid tea and coffee. These are stimulants and should be avoided after a treatment. Drink caffeine-free herbal teas or fresh fruit/vegetable juice instead.
• Avoid fluoridated water.
• Avoid alcohol and smoking.
• Rest and relax as much as possible. This allows the body to heal naturally.
