Katie Despres, Family & Systemic Constellations Facilitator & Yoga Teacher

Katie Despres, Family & Systemic Constellations Facilitator & Yoga Teacher Family Constellations Facilitator & Yoga teacher Katie Despres is a Systemic Constellations Facilitator and Yoga Teacher based in Bristol, UK.

She is known for her down-to-earth yet intuitive approach, combining over 10 years of experience in yoga and personal transformation. Through constellation therapy and yoga, she helps people release limiting patterns, reconnect with their bodies and intuition, and step into clarity and empowerment. Katie offers monthly constellation workshops, 1:1 sessions, and couples work in Bristol. She trained to an advanced level, including Couples & Intimate Systems, with the Centre for Systemic Constellations under Gaye Donaldson and Chris Williams. Coming from a complex blended family, an inter-racial marriage, and a step-parenting dynamic, Katie brings deep personal insight into her work. She is known for saying the things others wouldn’t, and for never changing herself to suit people. Her approach is steady, clear, and human — rooted in the belief that transformation doesn’t have to be lofty or abstract, but grounded in the everyday realities of how we live, relate, and carry what came before us.

What becomes visible when we stop looking only at the individual?

Family & Systemic Constellations widens the lens.

We look at what may be happening now in the context of relationships, family, ancestry and the wider systems we belong to.

Sometimes what is happening today makes more sense when we include what came before.

You might come because something feels stuck, confusing or painful.

-Perhaps there are repeating patterns in relationships.
-You feel responsible for everyone else.
-Grief or loss still feels very present.
-You struggle to take your place, be visible, or move forward.
-There is conflict around work, money or success.
-Or simply a sense that something deeper is influencing what is happening now.

You don’t need to know exactly what the issue is.

Constellation work can offer a different perspective. Insight into what may sit beneath a pattern. More curiosity and compassion. Sometimes a settling or untangling. A clearer sense of what belongs to you and what doesn’t.

And sometimes, more freedom and aliveness in how you meet what is happening now.

This work can be experienced online as well as in person. Family Constellations is a relational field, and the movement, resonance and insight of the work are not limited to physical space.

This September there are 3 ways to experience the work with me:

17 Sept — Bristol Circle
Faithspace, Redcliffe

22 Sept — Online Circle
with the Psychedelic Society

26 Sept — What Lies Beneath
Full Day Family Constellations, Clifton

Come with an issue, represent, witness or simply experience the field.

No previous experience needed.

Six weeks to learn, practise, integrate and return

Yoga Foundations is a course for beginners, returners, and anyone wanting to spend some time with the foundations of yoga.

We work in 6-week cycles — with a real in between for integration

Each cycle explores a different group of postures. This September we’ll work with standing postures and balances — exploring alignment, variations, transitions and how the postures feel in your body.

But the postures are only part of the practice.

Each week we’ll also explore guided meditation, simple breathing practices, and some of the wider teachings and philosophy of yoga.

Future cycles move through seated postures and Sun Salutations, before returning again — each time with a little more experience and understanding.

16 September – 21 October
Wednesdays 6:15–7:15pm
St Anne’s House, BS4
6 weeks · £75

I’ve been teaching yoga for over 10 years and am a Senior Yoga Teacher with 1,500+ hours of training.

Come and build a practice you can keep coming back to.

Delighted to be offering both Family Constellations and yoga at Bristol Yoga Festival this weekend.

For me, they are deeply connected practices.

Both invite us to notice ourselves not as separate, isolated individuals, but as part of wider systems... relational, interdependent and shaped by what and who we belong to.

Both ask something about inclusion too: what happens when we make space for more of our experience, rather than pushing parts away?

Constellations explores this through our family and relational systems. Yoga gives us another way in — through the body, breath, attention and practice.

I’ll be offering three sessions across the festival:

• Fri 5 Sept, 5–6.30pm — Intro to Family Constellations
• Sat 6 Sept, 7.30am — Family Constellations workshop
• Sat 6 Sept, 12.45–1.45pm — Yoga as a Systemic Practice — a full yoga class using meditation, breath, asana and simple yogic maps to explore ourselves relationally.

All sessions are included in your festival ticket.

Come and find me if you’re there....whether you’re curious about constellations, coming for the yoga, or interested in where these two practices meet.

If the fruit on a tree isn’t thriving, we don’t just examine the fruit.

We look at the whole tree.

The roots.
The soil.
The water.
The weather.
What is growing around it.

We understand this instinctively in nature.

An ecosystem is relational. When something is missing, struggling, displaced or no longer available, other parts of the system respond.

Yet when it comes to human beings, we so often look at the individual in isolation.

Family & Systemic Constellations asks us to widen the view.

What system does this person belong to?
What happened before them?
Who or what is missing?
Where has someone had to take a place that wasn’t originally theirs?
What has the system adapted to in order to survive?

The natural world has always influenced systemic thinking. Bert Hellinger, who developed Family Constellations, spent 16 years living and working among Zulu communities in South Africa. He later described the principles he observed in human relationships as the Orders of Love: belonging, order and the balance of giving and receiving.

This August I’m taking my monthly constellation circle out of the room and into the woods.

Not because nature is a nice backdrop.

Because we are nature too.

What changes when we take constellation work out of the room and back into the natural world?

This August, my monthly Bristol Family & Systemic Constellation Circle is moving outdoors, into the woods of Nightingale Valley.

I chose this place deliberately.

Nightingale Valley follows Brislington Brook through old woodland, with ancient trees and a landscape whose history reaches back for centuries.

In constellation work we explore the systems we belong to: our families, ancestors, relationships and communities. But our belonging doesn't stop with people.

We belong to place.
To land.
To the wider living system.

The Orders of Love that underpin constellation work have much in common with the laws we see in nature: belonging, relationship, interdependence and each part having its place within a larger whole.

So it feels right to take the work outside.

We'll meet at the entrance to Nightingale Valley and walk together into a quieter part of the woods, where we'll form our circle amongst the trees.

I've made this gathering donation based, £15–£35, because I'd like as many people as possible to be able to experience the work.

No previous experience of constellations is needed. You don't need to bring an issue to work on. You can simply come and represent.
