I hope you are all enjoying the weather and remembering to Slip, Slap, Slop — slip on a shirt, slap on the sun cream, and slop on a hat — while also making sure you keep taking on plenty of fluids.

Yesterday was something completely different for us, as we spent the day working on plans for the World Masters Walking Football Tournament, taking place at The Renewable Centre Stadium in Briton Ferry from August 13th to 16th.
Both Men’s and Women’s teams from around the globe will be joining us for this prestigious event.

As BFL Community Reds, we are really proud to be working on and staging this event, and we are grateful for the support of Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC in helping make it happen. Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC will shortly be announcing the countries taking part in this fantastic festival of football.

Away from the planning for the event, behind the scenes we have also been putting the finishing touches to our Volunteering Training Programme, ready for the launch of our “Games Maker” programme. We are really excited about this new initiative and the opportunities it will provide for everyone involved.

Finally, good luck to all the Cymru Dragons Walking Footballers who will be attending their monthly training session on Sunday. I look forward to meeting you all as we begin the build-up to the forthcoming international tournaments and the World Masters Walking Football Cup in August.

If you are interested in finding out more about the walking football opportunities at Briton Ferry Llansawel and our player pathway, please contact Martin Ranson via email at [email protected].

Whatever you are doing this weekend — enjoy!

One of the many highlights of Volunteering as part being of The Community Reds is working with our various community partners and delivering our outreach sessions.

Tuesday , we were in Cimla with Lyn and the members of the Me, Myself and I Friendship Group. It was a fantastic session filled with fun, warmth, and plenty of laughter. Guests took part in a musical warm-up before enjoying Boccia Noughts and Crosses, followed by a game of Boccia, a quiz, and bingo.

As always, the session was full of great conversations, smiles, and shared experiences. It is a privilege to be involved with such a wonderful group and organisation, just as it is with all of our Community Reds partners.

If you are a member of a community group or organisation and would like to find out more about how our Create, Enable, Empower, Change programme can support your community—ensuring nobody is left sitting on the bench—please get in touch.

For more information, email: [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who commented on and shared our previous post. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps us continue spreading our inclusion mission.
We never know what someone may be going through, and these sessions working with our Community partners open up conversations and practical support Which is why inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.

By working in partnership and creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments that break down the barriers associated with poor mental health and wellbeing, we can provide that important first step or stepping stone towards positive change.

Congratulations to everyone at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC Under 17s Girls on winning the League Cup yesterday, and also to our BFL Community Reds Women’s Walking Football team, who clinched the Welsh Women’s Walking Football title yesterday.

This is a fantastic achievement by everyone connected with our Walking Football Initiative and shows what can be achieved when everybody works and pulls together as one team.

It’s the start of another busy week for the team, with the usual mixture of meetings and being out and about delivering our Community Reds outreach sessions.
This weekend we will be at FerryFest with volunteers from the Community Reds team, who are all really looking forward to the event. If you’re going along, please pop by the Community Reds gazebo and say “hello”.

With the regular season now done and dusted, our focus now turns towards planning for next season. We have a number of exciting initiatives and plans awaiting sign-off by the club for our matchday programme. These include supporter groups and forums, matchday activities, and schemes designed to increase attendances at The Renewable Centre Stadium for all matches.

We still await the decision from the Charity Commission regarding the formation of The Community Reds as a CIO. We now have Trustees in place to oversee the new organisation and are just awaiting clarification and our charity number.

This is the next step for the Community Reds and would see us develop a number of exciting initiatives as the charity partner of Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC.
This is really important for the growth and sustainability of BFL Community Reds and for the continued development of our Create, Enable, Empower, Change programme.
Whatever you’re doing today, enjoy it. And remember, whatever you’re facing, the storm clouds don’t last forever — and here at The Community Reds we are always here to listen and support

One Team. One Club. One Community. All proud to be a part of Briton Ferry Llansawel ❤️❤️

Today is Day Two of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, which runs from 11–17 May. This year’s theme is “Action.”

Here at Community Reds, as part of this year’s focus, we wanted to help raise awareness of the practical steps we can all take to improve mental wellbeing — both for ourselves and for others — through the work we deliver alongside our valued Community Partners.

Through our weekly outreach programmes, working in partnership with a wide range of community organisations, we not only help raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health, but also deliver community-based activities that tackle some of the key challenges people face.

Our Community Reds Outreach Programmes are designed to remove barriers and provide support through positive, inclusive opportunities that promote the importance of good mental health and wellbeing.

Through our own evidence and the feedback received from Community Partners, we know our outreach sessions have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. Taking part in small, evidence-based actions — such as staying active, improving sleep, connecting with others, and getting involved in community activities — can help boost mood and improve overall wellbeing.

We are currently exploring opportunities to deliver a range of nature-based wellbeing sessions alongside our Community Partners. These will include Wellbeing Walks, Gardening for Wildlife, and other outdoor outreach activities focused on connection, wellbeing, and inclusion.

This Thursday is Wear It Green Day, and you can get involved by helping raise funds and awareness for the .

Here at Community Reds and , we will continue to support, promote, and focus on practical steps that create positive change within our communities.

As the dust settles on another busy weekend for our Community Reds volunteers, we would like to thank everyone who supported the Cup Finals at the Renewable Centre Stadium, along with our weekly Walking Football training session held at Cwrt Herbert.

This is a huge week for our Women’s Walking Football team as they look to be crowned league winners in their very first season in the Wales Women’s Walking Football League. This would be a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of what can be accomplished through hard work, dedication, commitment, passion, and teamwork.

Good luck to all the coaches and players from the BFL Community Reds and Rainbows squads ahead of next week’s final league fixtures
Away from the busy weekend activities, it is the start of another packed week for our Community Reds volunteers as we continue delivering our “Create, Enable, Empower, Change” programme — ensuring that nobody is left sitting on the bench.

On the agenda this week are several meetings with potential new community partners, alongside the continued delivery of our community outreach sessions, as we look to further build and develop the activities of Briton Ferry Llansawel Community Reds, both on and off the field.

With only four months to go until the first-ever World Masters Walking Football Cup at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, we have now entered the implementation and planning stage of this prestigious event. The club will host over 71 teams from around the globe from the 13th to the 16th of August.

We will shortly be advertising for Volunteer Games Makers to join the team and support this incredible event. For more information, please email [email protected].

Whatever you are up to today, enjoy your day and remember:

.Well as we awake to a new day and a possible new direction following yesterday's elections, it's important to remember we are all in it together. Whatever the result and whatever the future may look like.

For some, change can be difficult and we need to acknowledge that. By supporting, listening to and addressing each other's concerns and fears, and by coming together to share our skills, talents and knowledge, we can continue to Create, Enable, Empower Change — ensuring nobody is left sitting on the bench.

It's been a different week here at Briton Ferry Llansawel Community Reds with the May Bank Holiday and only Wednesday's Community Outreach Programme taking place. But the work hasn't stopped. We continue to plan and push forward with a number of exciting potential initiatives for the 2026/27 season.

Our proposals have now been submitted to the Club's Board of Directors and we await approval for our exciting plans for matchdays at the Renewable Centre Stadium.
The FAW attendance figures for last season are now out and, although we finished third with an average home gate of over 500 supporters attending our men's matches, we still fell short of Colwyn Bay's average crowd of 1,000 spectators. So there is work to be done by everyone involved to help boost attendances for all matches here at the Renewable Centre Stadium.

Through the proposed Community Reds initiatives, working together with the Board of Directors and you, the supporters of Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, we can continue to build and make the Renewable Centre Stadium an enjoyable, warm, welcoming and positive experience for all visitors.

This weekend sees the continuation of the West Wales Junior Finals at the ground. Volunteers from the Community Reds team will be in attendance on both days, so I urge you all to pop along over the weekend and let's make some noise!

Another change of venue and activity for the Community Reds Team today as we attend the regional forum hosted by Level Playing Field at the Swansea.com Stadium.

These meetings are incredibly important. Not only do they offer valuable networking opportunities, but they also allow us to learn from other clubs—both from the English Football League system and across Wales. Together, we’re working to overcome the barriers faced by supporters in the modern game, particularly those with disabilities and additional health needs
Later this year, the new Level Playing Field Handbook will be launched, setting out the standards all clubs should aim to meet in order to create fully accessible and welcoming environments. Here at Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC, we’ve already begun that journey. Today is about building on the work started by Stuart Williams and continuing to push forward alongside Level Playing Field and partner organisations—ensuring that the Renewable Centre Stadium remains a warm, welcoming, and inclusive place for everyone.

Yesterday, the Community Reds Team were out in the community delivering an outreach session with Age Connects Neath Port Talbot at Margam Community Centre. Activities included beachball tennis, bringing plenty of fun, participation, and gentle exercise for all involved
Tonight, we’re back in action with Inclusion Cricket in partnership with Port Talbot Pirates Cricket Club from 6:30–7:30pm at Port Talbot Cricket Club. If you’ve ever fancied yourself as the next Joe Root or Jofra Archer, come along—there’s a warm welcome waiting for you
If your community group would be interested in working with the Community Reds, feel free to drop us a message or email: [email protected]

It’s the start of another busy week for the Community Reds. The regular season may be over, but there’s still plenty to keep us busy.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of supporting the West Wales Girls Cup Final at the Renewable Centre Stadium. It was a fantastic day of football—well done to all the winners and runners-up. It truly was a pleasure to be part of such a well-organised event and to witness a brilliant celebration of girls’ football.

This week’s itinerary includes our usual mix of outreach programmes and partnership meetings, along with a trip to the Dot Com Stadium in Swansea for the Regional, Level Playing Fields Conference. This is an important opportunity to continue and explore how we can continue to create and improve a safe, inclusive environment for all supporters—especially those with disabilities or additional needs.

Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC was one of the first clubs to appoint a Disability Access Officer, and feedback from supporters shows just how valuable this role has been in meeting the needs of disabled fans and those requiring additional support. This is just the beginning.

Working alongside the Directors of BFL AFC, the CEO, our supporters, and our dedicated Community Reds volunteers, we are committed to continuing to create, enable, and empower positive change at the Renewable Centre Stadium for all Briton Ferry Llansawel men’s and women’s home games.

Our plans include:
A matchday activities programme.
A proposed Fans Forum.
A new junior membership scheme.
Development of away supporters’ travel.

There are lots of exciting opportunities for everyone to get involved, within this fantastic club and everything it offers, both on and off the field.
