This is one of my favourite quotes from Mahatma Ghandi, a gentle yet immensely powerful man and a great thinker. I was fortunate to enjoy a visit to the Ghandi Museum in Delhi when I was there in 2019. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

We cannot change the world unless we begin with ourselves. We may believe that we canโ€™t change ourselves, but we can! In fact, our brains are designed to enable that to happen, and any behavioural scientist will tell you there is plenty of evidence that humans are capable of making positive changes. Of course, we must want to - motivation is essential. โœจ

When a person is motivated but needs support, I use a range of skills and techniques drawing upon solution focused hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and counselling to enable each person to make positive and lasting changes and work toward living a calmer, happier life. ๐ŸŒฟ

I am proud to provide an inclusive service for all my clients. Although I am a cisgender female and straight, I have someone close to me who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community. I have witnessed their painful struggle to come out and to be themselves. I support them to be seen and heard in an increasingly hostile world; especially toward those who are transgender.

I say, โ€œBe proud of who you are, accept yourself and most importantly, love yourself.โ€

Weโ€™re halfway through the year already and June is the perfect time for setting intentions and defining what you would like to change for the rest of the year. ๐ŸŒž

I am working with my clients to enable them to do just that. You may want to re-evaluate your personal goals and start taking positive action steps. Ask yourself:

โœจ Are there any worries or feelings that need to be released?
โœจ What is that you want to change in your life or within yourself?
โœจ How will you go about making those changes?
โœจ When would you make those changes?
โœจ Can you do that on your own or would you benefit from some help from someone with a positive, solution-focused approach?

When you can be yourself โ€“ your true, genuine self then that is true freedom, in my opinion.

Yet so many of us are our own worst enemy. We hold ourselves back by comparing ourselves to others who we may think are better than us in some way. The fact is that nobody is better than anyone else โ€“ we are all wonderfully unique with different skills, qualities, and abilities. โœจ

If there is one important lesson in life that I have learnt in my 50+ years, it is that there is nothing to be gained in comparing oneself to anyone else.

Celebrate yourself, your uniqueness and most importantly, love who you are and just be yourself! ๐Ÿฉท

Yesterday was a momentous and emotional day. ๐Ÿฉท It was the final day of my Level 4 counselling course and the culmination of four years of study and something that I poured my heart into to - itโ€™s been an intense experience and it certainly took over my life, as my tutor had warned us it would!

I experienced a gamut of emotions yesterday, saying many goodbyes to my tutors and my lovely peers. I will miss our group but I know some of us will keep in touch and continue the special bond we have formed over the past two years of working and learning together for our diploma. I feel so grateful to have shared this learning journey with such beautiful souls. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Now I await my certification whilst I continue to work as a volunteer counsellor. Soon I will be able to offer counselling to my range of therapeutic services. Itโ€™s an exciting time of new beginnings. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒธ

It was great to see this display at Poole Dolphin Centre today. ๐Ÿ™‚ There was a wonderful Circle of Kindness and it was so inspirational to read the positive and uplifting messages on it. Well done to Access to Wellbeing for organising this and raising awareness of mental health. ๐ŸŒŸ

In my work as a volunteer counsellor in training I often signpost my clients to Access for Wellbeing which is a helpful information hub about services that are available locally.

My favourite supportive message is โ€œBelieve in Yourself.โ€ Iโ€™ve used it often in my work as a hypnotherapist. ๐Ÿ’š
