Hopefully it is enough to stop more fires popping up and start the incredible regeneration of nature and the forest

With Celestial events last night with the eclipse and the meteor shower, with forest fires across the region you may well be forgiven to be worried right now

Don't be, they are just your exam results - you have done your best and everything will work out

Whatever you achieve today well done and good luck with your next move

The emergency services and everyone involved is doing such an incredible job, hopefully they can keep it at bay and we get rain soon

Forestry England update – New Forest Fire – 11/8/26 6:00pm

In response to a request from emergency response partners supporting the ongoing heathland fire in the New Forest, the Highways Authority will implement a number of additional road closures from 6:00pm this evening.

These will include the Bolderwood Arboretum Ornamental Drive in Brockenhurst from the junction with the A35, and the Bolderwood Road west of Emery Down where the road will be closed from the Junction with the New Forest Inn.

As a result, all of our car parks along these routes will also be closed, in addition to those close to the incident which will remain shut for the foreseeable future.

Arrangements will be made for residents, commoners and other key individuals requiring emergency access.

The full list of Forestry England car park closures relating to the fire are - Bratley View, Canadian Memorial, Bolderwood, Knightwood Oak, James Hill, Millyford Bridge, Highland Water, Barrow Moor, Woosons, The Old Reptiliary (formerly the Reptile Centre). Updates on all car park closures can be found on our website - https://www.forestryengland.uk/new-forest/where-we-are-working

Please continue to avoid the affected areas while this active incident is ongoing.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the fire service, emergency workers, volunteers, partners and our staff who are all supporting the New Forest throughout this difficult time.

Thank you to everyone for your support and patience during this ongoing incident.

With the fires across the forest and A31 closed (as of 6am) please be careful and take extra time getting around.

Lots of traffic on roads which are usually deserted this morning

Stay safe everyone

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service says it is currently tackling the blaze on the A31.

Humans are incredible and this woman has just smashed a world record - for both men and women!

I never ceased to be impressed by people pushing themselves - be that across the alps or across the room, whatever your challenge is try and move more

As she said focus on the now and try one step forward...

Ultra-runner Sophie Woods runs 2,000km across eight countries in only 29 days to break the record for completing the Via Alpina - one of the world's toughest endurance challenges.

Are you getting enough exercise? Our Future health is some research alongside the NHS and they have asked nearly 2 million people about their habits - only just over half of the participants are getting enough?

The recommendations are

At least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week – or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week.

Muscle-strengthening activities on at least 2 days per week, targeting all major muscle groups

Exercise to be spread evenly over 4 or more days a week

and if you are over 65 add in some balance work too

There are numerous ways you can do this from dancing to the gym, if you want advice on what you can do or help getting to the stage where you feel you can just give us a call and we would love to help get everyone out helping themselves.

The research is worth a read

Analysis of data shared by almost 2m Our Future Health participants highlights differences in how we exercise, depending on our s*x, age, income and location

Some of you may remember I went on a week of study in Germany last year at the headquarters of the Bodyworlds exhibition, it was the best CPD I have ever done. I was also lucky enough to be part of a group chat with the founder and brains behind the whole project Gunther Von Hagens.

I was sad to hear this week he has died, he was an innovative thinker and definitely challenged some people but he has definitely improved anatomical knowledge and his work continues to do so in medical schools and exhibitions all around the world.

If you are interested you can read about him here.
