🩺 High blood pressure can affect people of ANY age

Hypertension (high blood pressure) is often associated with getting older, but it can affect people of all ages — including younger adults.

High blood pressure often causes no noticeable symptoms, which means you may feel completely well and still have raised blood pressure.

💙 Knowing your blood pressure is an important part of looking after your health.

If you haven’t had your blood pressure checked recently, consider arranging a check with your GP practice, pharmacy, or through a suitable home blood pressure monitor.

If you have concerns about your blood pressure or have been getting consistently high readings, please speak to a healthcare professional.

Don’t assume you’re too young for high blood pressure. Know your numbers. ❤️

🩺 This week is Know Your Numbers Week ❤️

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, often has no obvious symptoms — which is why it’s sometimes called a “silent” condition.

If blood pressure stays high over time, it can increase your risk of serious health problems, including heart disease, stroke, kidney problems and other complications.

The good news? Knowing your numbers is an important first step. ✅

💗 Make checking your blood pressure part of looking after your health.
🥗 Enjoy a balanced diet.
🏃 Stay physically active.
🚭 Avoid smoking.
🍷 Keep alcohol intake within recommended limits.
😴 Make time for good-quality sleep and relaxation.

Your blood pressure numbers can tell you a lot about your health — so don’t wait until you feel unwell to check them.

📌 Know your numbers. Look after your heart. Protect your future.

Have you heard about Social Prescribing? 🤔

Social prescribing is a way for healthcare professionals to connect people with non-medical support in their community to improve their health and wellbeing 🫶🏽

Instead of focusing only on medicines or clinical treatments, social prescribing recognises that factors such as loneliness, financial stress, housing problems, physical inactivity, or lack of social connection can have a major impact on health ❤️

We have a fabulous team in our district who can help link you to free and low cost services 🙌

You might be referred by your GP to our Social Prescribing team, but you can also self refer 📲

Call our team on 0300 303 5291 📞

The Big Conversation on Care is a chance for everyone in England to have their say on the future of adult social care. 👏

💙 Adult social care affects millions of people across the country. It supports older people, disabled people and people with long-term health conditions with a wide range of everyday tasks, helping them to live independently and safely.

🙏 However, the reality is that adult social care is not working well enough for many people, and change is needed to ensure that those who need support can get it.

🔵 The Big Conversation is part of the work being undertaken by the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, also known as the Casey Commission.

📲 Please take this opportunity to help inform the Commission’s recommendations to Government and share your ideas and experiences and vote on proposals. Click the link below ⬇
