About Launchpad
Launchpad is a community interest company based in Budleigh Salterton, supporting adults with learning challenges to build confidence and skills. We create safe, inclusive spaces where people can build confidence, learn new skills and be part of a team. Through our community café Wesley’s, our production kitchen, volunteering opportunities and community projects, we offer real‑life training, meaningful roles and a warm sense of belonging for local people and visitors alike.
About the Role
We’re looking for a kind, reliable Kitchen and Café Assistant to join our small, friendly team. This role blends practical café tasks with gentle support for our trainees as they learn and grow in confidence. No two days are the same! You might be supporting a trainee in the cafe to serve customers one day, and enabling someone else to process our meals for the freezer on another. This is a part-time role to support staff over the busy summer period, with the possibility of a longer-term role for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
Welcoming customers and creating a friendly, inclusive atmosphere
Preparing and serving drinks, simple meals and cakes
Supporting trainees with tasks such as taking orders, clearing tables, food prep and activities
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive experiences for trainees
Keeping the café and kitchen clean, safe and well‑organised
Working alongside volunteers and the Café Lead to ensure smooth running of sessions
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
Warm, patient and people‑focused
Confident working alongside adults with learning disabilities
Happy to get stuck into a variety of café tasks
A good communicator and team player
Reliable, organised and able to use your initiative
Experience in hospitality or support work is helpful but not essential — the right values matter most.
What We Offer
A supportive, friendly team
A meaningful role where you can make a real difference
Training and guidance
A positive, community‑focused working environment
