Hello Everyone,

With our children returning to school next week, it is important we give them strength and positivity to help make the transition easier. Here are three top tips to support them, if they are feeling unsure or wobbly about returning to school.

1) Get them to write a list of things they love about school. Think about subjects, friendships, time of the day etc. Read this list every night before bed, so they go to sleep with a positive mindset.

2) As their role models, tell them you are happy for them to return to school. Reassure them that the time is right for them to return, you trust the school to keep them safe and you are excited for them to go back. This will give them confidence, which will make the transition easier.

3) Talk to your child (during the day) about any specific worries they have and write them down. Sort the problems into three piles- ones the teacher can solve, worries you can help them with and ones they need to deal with. Put the piles for adults away or to one side, so they have a smaller list of issues to focus on. Come up with a strategy of how to solve each of their worries logically.

Hopefully, these three strategies will help prepare your children for next week.

If you need more guidance, there are many more ways in which we can support both you and your child, so please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any more assistance.

Good luck to you all at this difficult, yet exciting time.

Hello Everyone!

So, the return to school is well underway and I hope everything has gone smoothly for you all. I especially hope your child has shown some positivity and a sense of calm with all the new procedures put in place to keep him/her safe.

However, for many that will not be the case. Maybe your child is shown increasing signs of worry or anxiety? Maybe there are conversations happening at home that are tricky or expected behaviour is slipping? Please don’t worry if that is the case! You and your child are not alone. Growing Mindsets can help guide your child through this unusual time with confidence building strategies and positive, mindful activities to help them flourish once more. Visits into schools are currently limited due to Covid restrictions, but home visits or online sessions can be set up to support your child.

After all, we all want happy, positive children.

Hi All, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all the children who attended the Back To School Recovery Workshop last week. The workshop was an enormous success and I know we all developed our self-confidence, positivity, gratitude and resilient attitudes as the week progressed. Your bravery, contribution and smiley faces shone throughout our time together and I know you are all going to face your return to school with a greater sense of inner strength, positivity and calm. You’ve got this! 💪🤩 Thank you once again and good luck. 👍🏻

Growing Mindsets is running a FREE workshop for children that have just finished in year 2, 3, 4,and 5 and haven't been in school. We are aiming to support their well-being using mindfulness based activities, games and stories, alongside growth mindset and resilience training. Our aim is that it will provide them with some strategies which they can draw upon to help with their self-esteem, confidence and happiness as they return to school in September.

Numbers are very limited due to Covid-19 restrictions. Only children that have been signed up in advance and had their attendance confirmed by Growing Mindsets may attend.
Sessions will run Monday 24th - Friday 28th. If you wish your child to take part, there is an expectation they will attend every session that week, to comply with risk assessments and social distancing rules.
For children that have just finished year 2 and 3 the session will run from 9-10.30am
For children that have just finished year 4 and 5 it will run from 11-12.30pm.
It will be held in Hurstpierpoint Village Centre.

Please contact [email protected] if you would like to register your child and for further information.
