Hello Everyone,
With our children returning to school next week, it is important we give them strength and positivity to help make the transition easier. Here are three top tips to support them, if they are feeling unsure or wobbly about returning to school.
1) Get them to write a list of things they love about school. Think about subjects, friendships, time of the day etc. Read this list every night before bed, so they go to sleep with a positive mindset.
2) As their role models, tell them you are happy for them to return to school. Reassure them that the time is right for them to return, you trust the school to keep them safe and you are excited for them to go back. This will give them confidence, which will make the transition easier.
3) Talk to your child (during the day) about any specific worries they have and write them down. Sort the problems into three piles- ones the teacher can solve, worries you can help them with and ones they need to deal with. Put the piles for adults away or to one side, so they have a smaller list of issues to focus on. Come up with a strategy of how to solve each of their worries logically.
Hopefully, these three strategies will help prepare your children for next week.
If you need more guidance, there are many more ways in which we can support both you and your child, so please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any more assistance.
Good luck to you all at this difficult, yet exciting time.
