🏆❤️🔥TWO NATIONAL AWARDS, TWO RADIO NEWS BULLETINS... BUT IT'S THE STORIES BEHIND THEM THAT REALLY MATTER!

Well, it's certainly been an exciting week here at The Permanent Makeup Training Academy! 🥰

Following our recent DOUBLE national award win, our story has been making the headlines!

🎙️ TWO different news bulletins broadcast throughout the day on V2 Radio.🔥🔥

📰 A FULL-PAGE feature in the Mid Sussex Times.👏🧑‍🩰

And while we're absolutely thrilled to see our little Sussex training academy receiving so much recognition, there's something we're even prouder of.

💃🏻❤️The women who've walked through our doors and gone on to do things they once thought were completely out of reach. 🎁🌟🧑‍🎨👩‍🎓

Over the years, Katy has trained almost 1,000 students, many of whom started with no experience in permanent makeup and have since gone on to build their own successful businesses.

🤷‍♀️💄👩‍🎓Women who've changed careers, created more freedom for their families, found their confidence and surprised themselves with what they're capable of.

One of those women is Nadine, who you might remember from Channel 5's Rich House, Poor House. 📺👌

Her story, from living on just £86 a week to running her own successful permanent makeup business, was even featured in one of the radio news bulletins.

And that's what makes this recognition so special.

🏆🔥One national award celebrates Katy's work as a permanent makeup artist.

🏆🌟The other celebrates the training academy and the opportunities we've helped create for other women.

We've put both radio bulletins together into this little video, along with some lovely memories, student moments and our recent newspaper feature.

Because sometimes all it takes is seeing what's possible for someone else to start believing it might be possible for you too. ❤️

A huge thank you to V2 Radio and the Mid Sussex Times for sharing some lovely positive news!🫶🤩

😂 “CRAZY PMU CULT”

Natalia actually wrote that in her thank you card. 😂🙌❤️

And I thought to myself as we all went out for an ice cream🍦… she’s actually got a point you know.🤣

Maybe I am building a CULT…ure here.

Hang around with me long enough and I’ll probably brainwash you into believing you can build something far bigger for yourself than you have right now.

The dangerous bit of the cult?

…You’ll start proving me absolutely right. 💃🏻🔥😂

Natalia first saw me on Rich House, Poor House when she was just 14 and decided she would train with me one day.

👌🫶👏👏 She spent 2½ years saving for that dream once she became old enough to get a job in Asda.

And 8 months ago, at just 20 years old, she finally walked through my doors. ❤️

She didn’t really believe what could happen but she showed up anyway and decided to just trust the process and we sat down to make a plan.

2 week ago, just 8 months later she came back for her assessment day and amazingly a he’d already earned more in one 3-hour PMU day than she earns in a whole WEEK at Asda.

So we worked out how to do it again.

And again.

And again.

In fact, just 6 more regular PMU clients over the next 2 months could put her in a position to go full-time as a permanent makeup artist.

SIX! At 20 years old! 🥹💃🏻🔥🎁

And THIS is why I love mentoring my amazing students so much. 💃🏻❤️🌟👏👏

I’m not interested in teaching someone to micro-blade eyebrows and waving them goodbye. I don’t simply want to sell permanent makeup courses. I always aim to create exceptional permanent makeup career opportunities, for everybody that chooses to invest in training with me. 💕

I want them to see what they’re truly capable of building if they have all the right tools and mentorship.

Natalia finished her beautiful Thank You card with…

“You truly give the magic of belief for so many of your students, including myself.”

That got me right in the heart. ❤️

BUT THEN, JUST A WEEK OR SO LATER…

A voice note arrived on my phone…

Natalia was absolutely BUZZING.

She’d just had her first £550 DAY!!! 🎉

£450 in treatments and a £100 tip from a delighted client who’s already booked to come back!

“That is more than I make in a week at Asda.” And that was in just half a day.

And then she said something I loved…

“The more you push, the more you realise you can actually make so much more money in a day.”

😍🫶And there it was.

That beautiful moment when a young woman starts to realise that the dream she’s been saving for might actually become her everyday life.

She’s still working at Asda. Still learning. Still building her business.

She even admitted that halfway through a tricky lip treatment she was thinking, “I wish Katy was here! I wish Katy was here!” 😂❤️

🙌🌟But she kept going.

And now she’s sending me voice notes celebrating £550 days.

This is definitely 💯 my kind of CULT…ure.

Women believing in themselves. 💪

Showing each other what is possible.

Celebrating each other’s wins. 🎉

And realising that somebody else’s success is proof it can be done.

Natalia, I am SO incredibly proud of you. 🥹

And somewhere inside that young woman is still the 14-year-old girl watching me on television, thinking…

“One day, I’m going to train with her.”

Well, my friend…

LOOK AT YOU NOW. 💕 ❤️

And there’s something else that’s incredibly special to me about Natalia.

💰She’s already figured out what she can use some of the extra money she earns from doing permanent makeup.

She gives to food banks around Christmas, when so many families are struggling and she’s regularly donating to her favorite animal charities.

And I just thought… what an amazing young woman. ❤️

She’s working so hard to build a better future for herself, but she’s already thinking about how she can make life a little better for others too.

That’s the sort of success I absolutely love co-creating in our cult… ure. ###

Natalia thank you so much for our cupcakes. I was a bit sad to bite off your head & your certificate, felt strange but very yummy and much appreciated.😋🧁🤣🎁

A lovely surprise to see our story featured in the local Sussex newspapers! 🏆❤️

After almost 20 years in permanent makeup, more than 12,000 procedures and nearly 1,000 students trained, Katy has been recognised nationally for both her artistry AND her training academy.

🏆 National 1st Place Permanent Makeup Artist 2026

🏆 National 1st Place Beauty Training Academy 2026

We're incredibly proud of both awards, but what makes them especially meaningful is knowing how many wonderful people have been part of this journey.

From the clients who have trusted Katy with their faces over the years, to complete beginners taking their first steps into permanent makeup, and former students now running successful businesses of their own.

Every one of you has played a part in this story, and we're so grateful. ❤️

A huge thank you to UK Hair Awards & GB Beauty Awards for recognising Katy and our academy, to Mid Sussex Times Middy for sharing our story, and to everyone who has supported us along the way. ❤️

❤️💃🏻”I saved my back at the same time.”

Another little story from our 15+ Years of Student Stories series ❤️

When this lovely lady first came to us, she already had her own home salon. 🏠💅

Massage. Facials. Brow waxing. Tinting. All those smaller treatments that can fill your diary… and absolutely exhaust your body. 💆‍♀️

She didn’t necessarily want to give up her business.

She wanted to change what she was filling it with.

So she trained in permanent makeup.

When we filmed this, it had been just 10 months since she first came through our doors.

She’d completed her models and case studies, started taking paying clients and then made a decision she’d initially been quite apprehensive about…

She gave her existing clients two months’ notice. 👩‍⚖️

She was stopping many of her old treatments and concentrating on permanent makeup.

And I love what she says in this video because it isn’t some polished “success story”.

She talks about loving the work.

She talks about getting her first paying clients.

She talks about the emotional wobbles that come with doing something new.

And she talks about ringing me when she needs an answer. 😂❤️

That bit matters to me.

Because I never wanted to train somebody for a few days, hand them a certificate and send them off into the wilderness to figure the rest out alone.

I wanted to be the person I wish I’d had when I was starting.
And after all these years, I still get those calls. 📞📞📞

“Katy… can I just ask you something?”

Yes.

Always ask. ❤️

And sometimes, 10 months after somebody walks through our door wanting to add permanent makeup to what they already do…

They realise they’ve started building a very different business.

And saved their back in the process. 😂

After a 30-Year Relationship Ended… What Next? ❤️

15+ YEARS OF STUDENT STORIES

“Getting a bit of independence back.” ❤️

Some of the videos I've found in our student archives aren't really about permanent makeup at all.

They're about what was happening in someone's life when they decided to learn it.

And this is one of those.

After the end of a 30-year relationship, this lovely lady found herself having to work out what came next.

As she explained to Paul:

“I'm sort of going back to sorting everything out… getting a bit of independence back. Getting my feet down.”

And permanent makeup became one little part of rebuilding that next chapter. ❤️

She'd experienced permanent makeup herself and knew how it had made her feel.

Better in herself. 🥰

More confident.

And she loved the idea that she could learn something that might allow her to give that feeling to somebody else.

What really struck me was that she wasn't talking about simply learning to tattoo eyebrows.

She was already thinking about the person on the other side of the treatment.

About helping somebody feel better about themselves.

About the beauty side of permanent makeup.

And eventually, once she'd got herself established, she hoped to explore the restorative side too and perhaps even give some of that work back charitably. ❤️

There was something rather lovely about listening to her talk about wanting to help other people…

at a time when she was also busy putting her own life back together.

A 30-year relationship had ended.

She was finding her feet again.

Regaining some independence.

And beginning to think about what she wanted the next part of her life to look like. 📖

Sometimes a new career isn't really about running away from the old one.

Sometimes it's simply part of deciding what comes next. ❤️

❤️🤩👏🥰☕️ Well… this wasn’t how I expected our little Starbucks trip before the cinema to go. 🥹🏆

Tonight the GB Beauty & UK Hair Awards 2026 are announcing their winners live on YouTube.

I’m sat in Starbucks with my son Sebastian, hot chocolate in hand, watching the results before we head into the cinema… and I’m honestly a bit lost for words.

First, my name came up as:

🏆 South East Regional Winner – Semi Permanent Makeup Artist of the Year

Then…

🏆 South East Regional Winner – Beauty Training Academy of the Year

That meant both myself and The Permanent Makeup Training Academy went forward against the other regional winners from across the UK for the National Awards.

We carried on watching…

And then my name came up again.

🥇 NATIONAL 1ST PLACE – Semi Permanent Makeup Artist of the Year 2026

And then, somehow, AGAIN…

🥇 NATIONAL 1ST PLACE – Beauty Training Academy of the Year 2026

We’ve won BOTH. 😭🏆🏆

Best Semi Permanent Makeup Artist nationally.

And our little permanent makeup training academy in Sussex has been named National 1st Place Beauty Training Academy.

I’ve spent so many years doing this. Treating clients, teaching students, improving, learning, questioning myself, trying to give people the kind of training and support I wish I’d had when I started.

So to be sitting here with my son, drinking a hot chocolate, and watch our names appear on that screen twice as National 1st Place winners is a moment I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

And Sebastian is now celebrating with me in the traditional Jobbins family way…

a late-night Starbucks and a trip to the cinema. 😂❤️

Thank you to every client who has trusted me with their face, every student who has trusted me with their future, and every person who has supported us over the years.

Two South East Regional wins.
Two National 1st Place wins.
One very surreal Saturday night. 🏆🏆

Now I really do need to finish this hot chocolate. 😂❤️

❤️🔥”It’s been the BEST move I’ve ever made.”

❤️ 15+ YEARS OF STUDENT STORIES

This 47 second clip from the archives is a proper little “what happened next?” story.

Because this video was filmed just six months after her permanent makeup training.

And quite a lot had happened. 😂

She'd made a pretty big decision.

She'd given up her other job. 👩‍⚕️

As she put it:

“I just wanted to put 100% of my time into it.”

Now, I particularly love that she doesn't pretend clients magically appeared the moment she finished training.

She says herself that at first it was a little slow and she had to be really active about finding them.

So she got on with it.

She used Facebook.

She promoted herself.

She practised.

And in her first couple of months she'd already completed around 40 models.

Then Paul asked her how many people she'd treated altogether in those first six months…

And she couldn't actually remember. 😂❤️

But perhaps my favourite part of this whole little video is where she says:

“I didn't have any beauty background at all when it came to eyebrows.”

Because six months earlier, this was all new.

Now she was sitting there having left her other job, putting everything into permanent makeup and struggling to remember how many people she'd already treated.

Her verdict?

“It's been the best thing, best move I've ever made.”

And then, right at the end:

“Totally life-changing.” ❤️

I think that says rather more than I ever could.

❤️ 15+ Years of Student Stories

22/09/2026

Seven years ago, Lowrie was so nervous about training with me, she didn’t want to get out of the car. 😟

A couple of weeks ago, she drove 9 HOURS from Wales to come back and see me. ❤️

And this time, she wasn’t coming as a frightened new student.
She was coming back as a successful permanent makeup artist…

and as my client. 🥹

I think this little video says more about what can happen when you give yourself a chance than almost anything I could write.

When Lowrie first came to me, she had NO beauty experience.

She’d spent around 20 years working for the council.

She had two children.

She was at a crossroads in her life.

And although she loved permanent makeup, she really wasn’t convinced she was going to be any good at it.

She didn’t even want to show me her practice work because she thought it wasn’t good enough. 😂❤️

I can still remember one of her first clients telling her she was going to do an amazing job.

She even gave Lowrie a tip afterwards. 💷

Lowrie couldn't quite believe it.

Fast forward seven years…

She has her own permanent makeup business in North Wales.

She works around 3 days a week, sometimes a little more.

She sees around two clients a day.

She charges around £350–£395 for a treatment.

And when I asked her whether she was glad her husband Huey had made her get out of that car all those years ago, her answer was…

“Best thing I ever did. Honest to God.” ❤️

THAT is why I wanted to share this video.

Because we see the finished version of people all the time.

The business.
The confidence.
The clients.
The experience.

What we don't always see is the frightened woman at the beginning who wasn't even sure she could do it.

Lowrie wasn't born confident.

She didn't come from the beauty industry.

She didn't arrive at my door believing she was going to build a successful business.

She just took the first step. 🫶
Then the next one.
Then the next.

And seven years later, she drove all the way back from Wales, sat in my chair while I did HER permanent makeup, and told me about the lovely little business and life she'd built for herself.

I don't think I'll ever stop getting emotional about that. 🥹❤️

Sometimes you don't need to know exactly who you're going to become.

You just need enough courage to get out of the car.

So proud of you, Lowrie. ❤️

And Huey… I think we owe you one for that little shove seven years ago. 😂
