Next week we're opening our doors for an informal evening to learn a little more about dementia, share experiences and talk about how we can support people living with dementia in our local community.

Whether you have personal experience of dementia, support someone living with it, or simply want to understand more, you’re very welcome to join us.

Our Head of Operations, John, will be hosting the evening, bringing more than 26 years of experience in health and social care, including specialist experience in dementia care.

There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and have a chat over a cup of tea and some cake.

A big thank you to everyone who donated to our food bank drive. We were really pleased with how much we collected, and every contribution will make a valuable difference to our local community.

While dropping everything off at the food bank, we had the chance to meet the wonderful team involved and find out a little more about the support they provide. Food banks play such an important role in our communities, and we’re really pleased to be able to support such an important local service.

(We also discovered a local coffee morning, which we’re looking forward to joining.)

It was lovely to chat, meet some new faces and find out more about what’s happening in the community around us.

Our sunflowers have been growing and growing, and we honestly can’t believe how tall they’ve become!

It just goes to show what a little nurturing and plenty of sunlight can do. We’ve loved watching them grow over the weeks and seeing them become such a lovely part of our garden.

There’s something very satisfying about watching something go from a tiny seed into something so impressive. 🌻

One of the lovely things about life at Kingsleigh House is getting to know one another, discovering the experiences we’ve shared and learning more about the lives that have brought us all together.

This month, staff and residents have been reminiscing, sharing stories and talking about the different careers, skills and interests they have enjoyed throughout their lives.

From the jobs we’ve done to the skills we’ve picked up along the way, there has been plenty to talk about and lots of opportunities to learn something new about each other.

We’ve loved hearing the stories and memories that have helped shape the people we are today.

We’ve had a week filled with musical creativity! 🎶

Our collection of brand new musical instruments arrived this week, purchased using the money raised from the tombola at our 1st birthday celebration.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our tombola and helped us turn those celebrations into something we can continue to enjoy long after our birthday.

We’re looking forward to plenty more music, laughter and perhaps a few impromptu performances along the way! 🎶

✨ Our first postcard has arrived! ✨

And it’s all the way from Disney! 🏰

A huge thank you to the first person to send us a postcard. We’ve put it up for everyone to enjoy, and we’ve already been enjoying discussing our own experiences and memories, including the history of the famous mouse and his friends.

We’d still love to receive postcards from your summer adventures, whether you travel somewhere far away, enjoy a UK getaway, or simply discover somewhere special closer to home.

Every postcard gives us a little glimpse into someone’s travels and creates an opportunity to share stories, memories and conversations together.
