There are always great moments of connection and warmth across Kingsleigh. Every day is filled with conversation, laughter, and time spent together, and it is always nice when we catch a glimpse of this on camera and can share that joy with everyone.

Today we marked one year of Kingsleigh House being open.

It has been such a lovely afternoon, with plenty of smiles, laughter, food, and cake shared all round. We were joined by residents, families, neighbours, staff, and even the local Mayor. It was an honour to have so many people come together to mark this occasion.

Looking back, it is hard to believe how much Kingsleigh has grown and how many meaningful moments have been shared in the space of a year.

We are incredibly proud of the home Kingsleigh has become and so grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, including the people living at Kingsleigh, their families, our staff team, and the wider community around us.

May has been a month filled with laughter and happiness, and in honour of Mental Health Week we found lots of ways to talk about the things that support our wellbeing and bring us joy. There was plenty going on throughout the month, focused on wellbeing, connection, and enjoying time together.

Here is a selection of activities we’ve enjoyed, with plenty of music and dancing, lots of time spent in the sunshine, and a variety of crafts. We wore green for Wear It Green Day and had visits from our furry friends. We’ve also enjoyed a great selection of nutritious foods alongside some delicious baked treats. It’s been a very happy home throughout the month.

A giant millipede is definitely one of the more unusual and intriguing creatures we have had visit us.

We all found the way it moved fascinating, and couldn’t quite believe how long its body looked as it travelled along.

We have had another visit from Max the dog, which was a real joy for us all.

He spent time going round the home seeing everyone and made sure to spend a little time with each person, getting plenty of fuss and attention as he went.

As today is World Turtle Day, we thought we’d share some lovely moments from our recent visit from a very special tortoise.

Did you know…
All tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises. A tortoise is a turtle that only lives on land, while other turtles live mainly in rivers or the sea.
