We had a para led team over the weekend at Eltham Palace. The Legendary Joust at Eltham Palace is an annual summer event where four knights on horseback compete in a medieval tournament. The most recent event featured full-speed charges, shattering lances, living history encampments, falconry displays, and entertainment from jesters.

Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja, one of the most accomplished high-altitude mountaineers in history, has been confirmed dead following Thursday’s devastating avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047 meters) in Pakistan’s Karakoram Range. The announcement was made on Saturday, August 1, by his expedition company, Elite Exped, bringing a heartbreaking end to two days of uncertainty and hope.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Elite Exped confirmed that Purja had lost his life in the avalanche and that other members of the expedition had also perished.

“Today, it is with profound sadness and immense heartbreak that we confirm that Nirmal ‘Nimsdai’ Purja tragically lost his life following the avalanche on Broad Peak. We have also received confirmation that other members of the expedition sadly did not survive.”
The company also confirmed the deaths of Purja’s trusted climbing partners and guides, Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta” and Nima Sherpa.

The annual Wales Hanuman Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) recently took place on July 4, 2026 at the Wales Hanuman Temple in Velindre, Port Talbot.
