Did you know? ☀️
Sunlight does more than warm your skin. Exposure to UVB light helps the body make vitamin D, which plays an important role in immune function. One of the ways vitamin D supports the body is by helping activate certain antimicrobial peptides, including cathelicidin and defensins, which are part of the body’s natural defense system and help support the skin and immune system against unwanted microbes.
Even a short amount of sunlight each day, often around 20 to 30 minutes for some people, may help support vitamin D production. How much sunlight a person needs depends on your skin tone, how much skin is exposed, and the length of sun exposure.
A little sunlight can be part of a healthy rhythm. Get the light, enjoy the warmth, and protect your skin when you’re going to be out longer.
