At Gillvray Health, we are passionate about health existing beyond the clinic. But sometimes we all need a bit of extra support. So we bring the community inside health! If you visit our clinic at 19E Hills Road, or contact us by phone, you are likely to meet Rocky, our Healthcare & Administrative Assistant Manager. Rocky said: I love creating an environment where every patient feels seen, valued, and genuinely cared for. That is living well in our community!

What does "living well in your community" mean to us? Our CEO Dr. Claire said: Living well in my community helps me to view health through a wider lens. Health finishes with us as individuals but it starts and is dependent on the other humans we live in neighbourhoods and communities with and the environment we exist in. The green spaces, the education our kids get, the access to health care, the food choices around us. These factors have a huge impact on our individual health but need communities to make them happen. As a GP I have been privileged to think about health in communities I have worked and lived in. Thinking about how best to serve a population. Hearing what people need. Advocating for those without a voice. It's why I love what I do!

We have a tendency to think of a life as being made up of its big moments - but those things are actually such a tiny percentage of our lives. Most of life is incredibly ordinary. Maybe living well isn't about creating an extraordinary life at all. Maybe it's about becoming so present in your ordinary one that you begin to realise how extraordinary it already is.

Our Head of Strategy, Innovation & Development, Trish, said: I love the concept of community and neighbourhood health - my favourites are the subtle moments that reach people even on days when it is a struggle to feel a sense of belonging or connection. Most days on my cycle commute to Gillvray Health HQ, I pass a man walking in the opposite direction. I don't know his name. He doesn't know mine. We smile, sometimes call out good morning, and keep going on our journeys. Those smiles are free. Those moments are priceless. Gifts of community connection we can all share. That to me is living well in my community.

Gillvray Health's doctor Susana said: Living well in your community, to me, means spaces that welcome everyone — whatever their pace or ability. I think parkrun is one of the best examples: a free, local gathering where walking, running, volunteering and cheering each other on all count equally. Even though I don't make it every Saturday, it's always there, and that consistency and inclusivity is what I feel living well in your community really looks like.

We asked Health & Nutrition Coach, Caroline, what "living well in your community" means to her: I live in a tiny village, so living well in my community to me means taking the time to connect with my neighbours. A really easy way to do that is on a dog walk! I've met so many more people since having a dog and taking the time to stop and chat gives me a greater sense of belonging.

Have you tried a YogaStrong class with Lucy? Join us on the mat this September - you can book via the website. Combining ancient yoga tradition with modern-day science, YogaStrong classes give you the tools you need to feel well and at home within your body. The goal is to create strength and resilience in the mind, the body and the breath so that you feel more at ease and in tune with yourself every single day. Yoga is not a one size fits all practice and so we create classes that encourage you to meet yourself exactly where you are each time you step onto your mat.

Ahead of , we asked each of the Gillvray Health team what "living well in your community" means to them. Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer Lucy said: For me, living well in your community means creating accessible spaces where people can move, connect and feel a sense of belonging. Our community yoga classes are about so much more than physical movement, they bring people together, create meaningful social connection and provide a regular moment in the week to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
