Routeways to Work helps people develop the skills, confidence and experience they need to take steps towards employment and greater independence.

Through practical activities, workplace learning and tailored support, participants can build communication skills, confidence and positive working relationships in a supportive environment.

In celebration of National Bike Week, Routeways to Work and OWL Bikes attended an event at 50-60 Station Road Cambridge, hosted by Cushman & Wakefield. Routeways to Work participants and staff members in situ. The were joined by Cambridgeshire Police providing security bike tagging and Flit Bikes which are designed and manufactured in Cambridge. Would you like to keep your bike safe? 🚲

Pop along to our next free bike marking events over the summer more details below:

🚲 Coop Mitchams Corner, 1 Milton Road, Friday 5th June – 1300-1500

🚲 Coop 177 Mill Road, Cambridge, Monday 22nd June - 1200-1400

🚲 Coop 3 Granchester St, Cambridge, Wednesday 1st July – 1000-1200

🚲 Coop 3 Adkins Corner, Cherry Hinton Road, Cambridge, Monday 27th July – 1600-1800

🚲 Coop East of England, Cambridge North Train Station, Friday 28th August - 1700-1900

The process only takes a few minutes and follows the steps below:

1. Add your bike details to the national police-approved database

2. Mark and protect your bike with a security marking kit

3. Reduce the risk of theft by warning thieves that your bike is marked and increase the chances of you being reunited with it, if it happens to get stolen

You will need to bring your bike and frame number with you (this can normally be found on the bottom bracket of your bike).

14 bikes picked up, repaired, cleaned, and back in action! 🚲

Earlier this week, OWL Bikes collected a batch of well-used P.E. bikes from Chesterton Community College. After some TLC, they’ve now been returned and ready for students to enjoy.

Recent weeks have shown just how much we rely on cars, but it doesn’t have to be this way. In 2024, 70% of journeys were shorter than 5 miles, a perfect distance for cycling.

Not every trip can be cycled, but many could. Swapping even a few short car journeys for a bike would save money, cut pollution, and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. People also need to feel safe on the roads, which is why backing matters: safer cycling for women makes it safer for everyone: cyclinguk.org/my-ride-our-right
