Something important is taking shape at Vital Adaptation.
Vital Adaptation is a participation-focused body of work that helps people, practitioners and organisations create the conditions in which people can adapt, connect and participate more fully in life.
Across healthcare, communities and the outdoors, I keep returning to the same question: What helps people live well between appointments, services and formal interventions?
Participation does not happen through good intentions alone. It needs practical methods, accessible environments, confident practitioners and sound professional infrastructure.
Later this August, I will begin sharing several new developments from Vital Adaptation:
• the Wellbeing Ceilidh™ Starter Pack, supporting welcoming, accessible and community-centred ceilidh experiences;
• a new programme of clinician-led Outdoor CPD, helping outdoor professionals understand how health conditions and disability can affect participation in real environments;
• the Occupational Therapy Governance Toolkit, providing practical structures for stronger governance, assurance and professional accountability;
• the Vital Adaptation™ Participation Framework for Occupational Therapy, bringing participation, adaptation and professional reasoning together within a coherent practice framework.
I will also be announcing the next live Wellbeing Ceilidh™ in Cambridge this November, alongside forthcoming opportunities to participate in Routines for Wellbeing™.
These are different expressions of the same underlying work: building the missing infrastructure that enables people to participate, adapt and thrive.
Over the coming weeks, I will share more about the thinking, evidence, experiences and practical work behind each development—as well as details of how to access them.
It feels exciting to be approaching the point where this work can begin reaching more people. Follow Vital Adaptation for launch details later this month.
Participation changes lives.
