Global health funding opportunity – apply by 22 May 2026

The CGHP Grant Scheme offers up to £1,000 to support individuals or teams delivering global health work.

✅ Open to NHS staff across the East of England
✅ Funding for remote or in-person global health activities
✅ Designed to support meaningful, partnership-led projects

Previous grants have supported a range of global health projects from delivering fertility nursing training in Zimbabwe to running ‘ear camps’ in rural Malawi, reaching hundreds of children — demonstrating what small grants can achieve at scale.

This , we celebrate the leadership, expertise, and compassion of nurses worldwide — shaping and strengthening healthcare every day.

At CGHP, we’re proud to work alongside incredible nurses through partnerships such as SCALE (Strengthening healthcare workforce capacity through global learning), where peer-to-peer learning and collaboration are strengthening critical care in the UK and Uganda.

Between 2022-25, across the partnership:
✨Over 300 nurses in Uganda have been trained in specialist critical care, shaped by locally identified needs and priorities.
✨Over 200 nurses have been invited to join the partnership each year in the UK - bringing back valuable insights into NHS practice.
✨8 nurses have been supported to become local educators — now mentoring peers, leading locally, and driving the rollout of initiatives such as the ICU competency framework.

This video captures a few reflections from those involved in a partnership visit last year — offering a glimpse into their experiences while speaking to the remarkable impact the SCALE partnership continues to have.

CGHP is proud to recognise nurses and midwives for their vital leadership—both within the NHS and across global health partnerships. Through initiatives such as the Uganda–Cambridge Maternal and Neonatal Health Partnership and the SCALE Partnership, nurses and midwives are leading efforts to improve the diagnosis and management of life‑threatening emergencies, while bringing valuable skills, innovation, and leadership back into NHS practice.

In our latest blog, Mallika Fonseca - GP trainee and CGHP NHS East of England Global Health Fellow 2026, reflects on her experience strengthening palliative care through the Uttarakhand–Cambridge Health Partnership, and the vital learnings this work brings to the NHS.

Mallika explores why supporting people through the end of their lives truly takes a village, and how health partnership and reciprocal learning between healthcare workers can empower families and communities.
