Cambridge Global Health Partnerships (CGHP) facilitates safe, ethical and effective health partnerships between Cambridge and the East of England and low- and middle-income countries to tackle some of the biggest health issues of our time. The aim of Cambridge Global Health Partnerships is to support positive, sustainable change in global health through facilitating international partnerships with

hospitals and health organisations in low and middle income countries. To achieve our aim we support staff and students of Cambridge University Hospitals and the local health community to make practical contributions to global health by volunteering.

Interested in or preparing to take part in global health work?

Join CGHP’s upcoming half‑day workshop to learn how to make your global health involvement safe, effective and ethical.

You’ll hear directly from members and partners, including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, about their experiences and learnings from delivering programmes. The workshop is also an opportunity to meet others who are beginning their global health journey.

The free, half-day workshop takes place on 14 April at the Clinical School, Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The CGHP Grant Scheme offers up to £1,000 to support individuals or teams delivering global health work.

✅ Open to NHS staff across the East of England
✅ Funding for remote or in-person global health activities
✅ Designed to support meaningful, partnership-led projects

Previous grants have supported a range of global health projects, from delivering fertility nursing training in Zimbabwe to running 'ear camps' in rural Malawi that reached hundreds of children, demonstrating what small grants can achieve at scale.

We’re delighted to welcome Caesar Atuire as a keynote speaker at the .

​Caesar is a leading philosopher and health ethicist from Ghana, who is currently serving as the Co-Director of Oxford Global Health and Ethics and Governance Lead for the MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford. Caesar also holds an Adjunct Professorship of Philosophy at the University of Ghana.

Drawing on his extensive global leadership—including roles with the WHO’s COVID-19 Ethics & Governance Working Group, the Global Forum for Bioethics in Research, and the Africa CDC—Caesar will share invaluable insights on dismantling systemic inequities in global health.

We’re looking for examples of impactful work across:

🔹 Global health research
🔹 Global health education
🔹 Global health practice

Submit an abstract of up to 250 words, highlighting:

✅ The challenge or opportunity
✅ Your approach
✅ Key outcomes and impact
✅ Lessons learned

Selected abstracts will be invited to showcase their work through a poster presentation at the conference.

📅 Deadline for submissions: 15 September 2026

Jim Campbell is the Professor of Practice, Health Workforce, at King's College London and brings exceptional global expertise in population health, health systems and health workforce development. His distinguished career spans senior leadership and advisory roles with the World Health Organisation, the Global Health Workforce Alliance and the UK Department for International Development.

At a time when health systems around the world are facing significant workforce pressures, Jim will offer a powerful global perspective on the challenges and opportunities for delivering equitable and sustainable health impact. We look forward to hearing his insights.

We’re inviting submissions for the Poster Competition at the 5th East of England Global Health Conference, taking place later this year.

This is an opportunity to share and celebrate work contributing to global health across three categories:

🔹 Global health research
🔹 Global health education
🔹 Global health practice

Submit an abstract of up to 250 words outlining the challenge, your approach, the impact, and key learnings from your work.

We’re very sorry for the late notice, but due to the current amber heat warning and insufficient cooling facilities at the venue, we’ve had to reschedule today’s Raising the Bar event. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
