I was 15 years old when my mum first bought sunscreen for me and that’s because the ‘things to pack’ list for my school trip had written it as a must, in ‘BOLD’ type!
I remember choosing it myself, Hawaiian Tropic’ factor 8 oil… because I wanted the best tan and I liked the smell of it. It was very expensive!
Even though I spent so much time outside as a kid, mum didn’t chase after me with a bottle of sun cream, attacking my nose and cheeks with it. No not like us mums do these days. Well… I try but Ryder is faster than me and hates me doing it as much as I imagine I would have hated it.
Mum couldn’t afford sunscreen. It wasn’t a necessity. Nor were the effects of UV rays so openly talked about as they are today.
Ryder does occasionally get squidged with a dollop of AlumierMD but generally I chase him with Heliocare…. For the past 4 years, my face has only seen AlumierMD sunscreen and I remain loyal to this brand because of its effectiveness. It’s a bonus that it smells nice, goes a long way, applies well AND comes in a tinted version. I really do recommend it!
