A massive thank you to for hosting Paul Walker yesterday evening!

It was a pleasure meeting you all at such a pivotal stage in your university journey and having the opportunity to discuss the perceived gap between theory and practice.

Paul was particularly impressed by the level of engagement and the insight demonstrated through your questions. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wishes you every success as you approach the end of the academic year.

Last Thursday, some of the team had the pleasure of taking part in a fantastic padel tournament hosted by

It was a brilliant day of sport, healthy competition and networking, with plenty of great matches and even better conversations throughout the day.

A huge congratulations to the winning team and to Esquire for organising such a successful event raising money for their Mount Everest climb in support of Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

We wish them all the best on their climb and look forward to the next one! 🎾🩷

Part of the ON team headed to Cambridge for a walking tour of some of the city’s most thoughtful and sensitive contemporary architectural interventions. Highlights included Niall McLaughlin’s West Court, Stanton Williams’ Young’s Court, and Haworth Tompkins’ work at Pembroke College.

It was inspiring to see how these practices have navigated some of the most challenging and historically rich sites in the country, balancing innovation with deep contextual understanding. Day two took us to Accordia; a masterplan that, years on, still stands as a benchmark for high‑quality residential design.

An architecture walk, a pub or two, and plenty of learning - exactly what CPD should be!

Great memories made with a great team.

We’re pleased to be supporting the delivery of a new residential development at Tye Green, Braintree, which has recently secured planning approval in partnership with CHP.

The scheme will provide 35 new affordable homes, delivering a mix of two, three and four-bedroom family properties for affordable rent and shared ownership. Designed with both community and sustainability in mind, the development will include generous green spaces, enhanced landscaping, and hedgerows to support local biodiversity, as well as new pedestrian links to improve access to nearby services and public transport.

The homes will be built to high energy-efficiency standards (EPC A) and will incorporate sustainable features such as air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points. These elements will help create comfortable, future-ready homes while supporting lower household energy costs for residents.

We’re proud to be part of a project that will bring much-needed affordable housing to the area while creating a well-designed neighbourhood that respects the surrounding countryside and village setting.

A great turnout at the public consultation event last week, where the team shared proposals for the regeneration of Ashford’s Commercial Quarter. Hosted at the Stour Centre, the event provided an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to learn more about the plans and share their feedback ahead of planning submission.

The proposals include:
• The redevelopment of the Tanyard site to deliver 160 affordable homes and restoration of the Grade II* Listed Whist House.
• The conversion of the former Civic Centre into 60 new affordable homes with enhanced public realm.
• The installation of solar canopies over the Stour Centre car park, generating around 1MW of clean energy annually.

Together, these projects aim to address local housing needs while supporting Ashford Borough Council’s ambitions around sustainability and town-centre regeneration.

It was fantastic to see such thoughtful discussion and interest in shaping the future of this important part of the town. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared their views!

On Architecture is delighted that Reserved Matters approval for Elivia Homes’ new development in Biddenden has been secured via a delegated decision from Ashford Borough Council.

This excellent result reflects the collaboration of the design team and our client, aligned in the ambition to deliver a landscape led, high quality development of 50 homes including 40% affordable housing, a community orchard, allotments, public open space and sustainable drainage systems.

Sustainability has been central to our approach, with timber frame construction, air source heat pumps, enhanced insulation and EV charging points as standard. The design integrates existing ponds and natural features to support biodiversity and create a setting that complements Biddenden’s character.

Located opposite the award-winning Maltings development, also designed by us for the same client, we hope this project will continue that legacy and achieve similar recognition.

Many thanks to everyone involved in securing this approval.
