Hot weather warning
Cardiff will be experiencing a period of significantly hot weather over the following week. Hot weather can lead to significant health problems for elderly and medically vulnerable. Simple actions can reduce the risk of these problems occurring.

Main actions:
Keep the heat out of your house during the day.
Keep your body temperature down: stay out the sun in the middle of the day, reduce levels of physical activity, drink regularly (avoid caffeine (tea, coffee, colas), very sweet drinks and alcohol).
Provide extra care by regularly checking on those who are vulnerable.
Be alert for the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and know how to provide emergency treatment.
Wear sun screen and appropriate clothing (hat, loose fitting clothes).
Anyone can become unwell when the weather is hot. The main health risks in hot weather are dehydration (not drinking enough water), heat exhaustion and sunburn.
