Health isn’t about what you’ve done this week, it isn’t about making yourself do what you feel you should and it isn’t about being 100% on it all the time.

A two week diet before your holiday will not create health.

Making small healthy changes that you can keep up in the long term will make the difference.

If you want to start simple and be supported to create five new healthy habits in five days click here to join my Healthy Habits Challenge starting on 22nd June – https://www.subscribepage.com/thehealthyhabitschallenge.

You might spend a lot of time thinking of changing your diet but not doing it because your goal is a million miles away and you feel like you’ll never get there.

But you may as well start today with one small step because time will pass anyway. You could waste it thinking that change is too difficult or you could take the first step.

Take action now and feel better in three months instead of being right where you started.

If you want to start simple and be supported to create five new healthy habits in five days click here to join my Healthy Habits Challenge starting on 22nd June – https://www.subscribepage.com/thehealthyhabitschallenge.

Set Yourself Up For Success

This week I’ve been talking about keeping changes to your diet simple. But things that are easy to do are also easy to ignore or to just forget about! You need to have a plan – it’s not just what you’re going to do, it’s the how and the when that are important.

You can set yourself up for success by thinking it through. It’s about creating a new habit – something that becomes automatic for you.

If you’re going to drink a glass of water on waking you need to take it to bed with you and put it on your bedside cabinet. The visual of seeing the glass is a trigger to drink it. You can also attach the water drinking to another habit that you do every day automatically. For example as soon as you turn off your alarm you drink a glass of water.

If you’re struggling with finding your balance in perimenopause my Healthy Habits Challenge, starting on Monday 22nd June, would be a great place to start getting that balance back. It focuses on getting some simple foundations in place. Foundations that work through summer holidays, barbeques and picnics. We’ll focus on adding in the good stuff and it’s always a great week, lots of fun and huge positive changes made.

There’s more than one way to skin a cat (as the slightly gross saying goes).

The same goes for changing your diet.

You don’t have to do keto just because everyone at the gym is.

You don’t have to go low carb if you love bread and pasta.

Starting with simple changes is always the best thing to do. Build your foundations and decide where you want to go from there.

‘I’ll just do this and then I’ll make lunch’

It’s time to stop the cycle of ‘I’ll just do this and then I’ll make lunch’, which ends up with you not eating until 4pm (if at all).

These simple lunch ideas are way better than a sandwich. They cut out all the rubbish and give you quick options packed with the good stuff - https://www.subscribepage.com/simple-hormone-friendly-lunches.

I often get asked how long it will take for people to reach their goals.

There isn’t a quick answer.

Achieving health goals is more of a marathon than a sprint.

If it’s taken you 10 years to get to where you are now your problems won’t be solved in a week.

The effort you put in and your consistency with the changes will impact how long things take.

Start with simple changes that you can keep up because a small change that you’re still doing in six months is always more effective than a huge change that you can only keep up for a week because it wasn’t realistic.

Easy Isn’t Cheating

The best habits are the easy ones and I don’t mean that you should choose any old habit just because it’s easy! I mean that it’s okay to take the path of least resistance.

Change can be overwhelming because there are so many things you could change, so many things you want to do and so many things that you feel you should do. The result is often that you change nothing because you don’t know where to start.

Next time you’re faced with what feels like a mountain, when the perimenopause exhaustion is overwhelming and you feel like you’re wading through mud, just choose one thing. Make it something easy.

If you’re struggling with finding your balance in perimenopause my Healthy Habits Challenge, starting on Monday 22nd June, would be a great place to start getting that balance back. It focuses on getting some simple foundations in place. Foundations that work through summer holidays, barbeques and picnics.
