What a week💗
Exhausting. Emotional. Challenging. Completely overwhelming at times… but absolutely AMAZING.
Our week at Equinox Summer Camp was everything we hoped it would be and so much more.
We’ve spent the week surrounded by incredible therapists and staff, amazing families who just get it, and children working harder than most people could ever imagine. There’s something so special about being surrounded by people who understand the highs, the lows, the exhaustion and the constant fight — without needing to explain a thing.
And then there’s our little Liwsi🥹
The absolute JOY on her face this week has been everything.
She has worked SO hard. Hours of therapy, pushing herself when she’s tired, trying again and again, and somehow finding the determination to keep going.
And we’ve seen PROGRESS💪🏼
Liwsi is now bum shuffling🥹
It’s tiny.
It’s extremely slow.
It’s barely a few little movements at a time…
BUT SHE MOVES❤️
And then there was the Trexo…
Watching Liwsi walk in the Trexo has been the biggest emotional rollercoaster🥹
To some people, it might just look like a little girl taking assisted steps.
To us, it is SO much more.
After watching Liwsi lose so many of the skills she had worked incredibly hard to gain, seeing those little legs moving again, watching her take step after step and seeing the absolute joy on her face completely broke us.
There have been tears. Lots of them😭
Because we know just how hard she has fought to get here.
The Trexo gives Liwsi the opportunity to experience movement, repetition and walking in a way that her body currently struggles to do independently. And watching her work, smile and keep going is something we will never, ever take for granted.
And her legs?!😅
The strength she now has to kick and push her Mami away during a nappy change is UNBELIEVABLE.
Honestly… what a nightmare.
But what a GREAT problem to have😂❤️
Every kick, every push, every little bum shuffle and every step is a reminder that she is fighting her way back.
Liwsi has always had the biggest determination, an extreme amount of stubbornness 😂 and an unbelievable ability to prove people wrong.
And we are SO proud of her.
This is exactly why we fundraise.
Because regular, intensive therapy gives Liwsi the opportunity to work on those skills, build her strength and keep fighting against the challenges her little body throws at her.
She wouldn’t be where she is today without the incredible support around her.
Our amazing physio Mia, who has been such a huge part of Liwsi’s journey and progress.
And all of the incredible team at Equinox, who have gone from therapists to a huge part of our family. We are so unbelievably grateful for every single person who has supported Liwsi, believed in her and celebrated every tiny step forward with us💗
And to all the families we’ve met along the way — thank you for making this week so special. The friendships, the support, the laughs, the tears and watching all of your incredible children work so hard has been something we will never forget.
It may have been one of the most exhausting weeks ever…
But watching our girl MOVE again?
Worth every single second🥹💗
Keep proving them wrong, Liwsi.
