๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ Meet Adam, one of our incredible London Marathon runners!

Adam, 29, discovered a love of running through a Couch to 5K programme four years ago, and what started as a new challenge has become a huge part of his life. As a member of a National Autistic Society social group, he has built friendships, grown in confidence, and embraced new experiences.

Now, Adam is taking on his biggest challenge yet, the London Marathon, to raise funds and awareness for the National Autistic Society, a cause close to his heart.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "I want to show that being autistic shouldn't be a barrier to achieving your goals, trying new things, building friendships, or living life to the fullest."

If you'd like to support Adam on his marathon journey, please consider donating to his JustGiving page by clicking the link below. Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a difference for autistic people and their families. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŽ‰ What a fantastic way to wrap up our Summer Activity Group in Randalstown! โ˜€๏ธ

Our young people had an amazing time celebrating at their end-of-programme party, with plenty of pizza ๐Ÿ•, bouncy castles ๐ŸŽˆ and lots of smiles and laughter all round.

It has been wonderful to see everyone having fun, making memories and building friendships throughout the summer.

A huge thank you to all of the young people who joined us over the past few months. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and we can't wait to see you again soon!

A big welcome to Willow!

It's been lovely to see Willow settling into our evening club at our Randalstown Centre and finding her favourite spaces within the centre.

Willow particularly enjoys spending time in our River Room, a calming space where she can relax on the water bed, enjoy the gentle glow of the LED lighting and take in the soothing music and visuals from the projector.

It's wonderful to see Willow enjoying this peaceful environment and using the space to relax and recharge. We are so happy to have you with us, Willow!

โ€˜Go to the toiletโ€™

This phrase doesnโ€™t actually explain what you do when you go to the toilet. For an autistic child, this can be just one of a variety of reasons toilet training can be challenging.

In this professional article, Senior Trainer Consultant, Lorraine MacAlister, offers strategies and preparation to help you support autistic children during toileting ๐Ÿ‘‡

Itโ€™s wonderful to see our Juniors Group thriving at the Randalstown Centre! ๐ŸŒŸ

Our young people have been making the most of everything the centre has to offer, from exploring our outdoor spaces and bouncing on the trampolines to relaxing on the water bed and enjoying our sensory equipment. Most importantly they are having fun!

Just look at those smiles! ๐Ÿ˜Š Weโ€™re delighted to provide a welcoming space where young people can connect, play, and be themselves.

๐Ÿถ Happy National Dog Day! ๐Ÿถ

Today we're celebrating our four-legged friends, and we'd like to introduce you to Tiny and her owner Katie! โค๏ธ

Katie is a valued member of our Women's Group, and has successfully completed our Mentoring Programme.

Tiny has been part of Katie's family for the past six years after being rescued from Mid Antrim Sanctuary. At around 16 years old, she's proof that age is just a number! Despite living with heart disease and dementia, Tiny still enjoys the occasional zoomies and a little playtime. ๐Ÿพ

As Katie says, you simply can't slow a Jack Russell down! Fiercely loyal, Tiny refuses to go for walks with anyone else and is the perfect example of why dogs are often called our best friends. ๐Ÿ’•

Let's celebrate all the amazing dogs who bring companionship, comfort and joy to our lives every day. Share a photo of your furry friend in the comments! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿพ

A warm welcome to Antoine!

We're so pleased to have Antoine join our evening club at our Randalstown Centre. He's been settling in wonderfully and is already making himself at home across our different spaces.

Antoine has particularly enjoyed spending time outdoors, with our three outdoor spaces giving him plenty of opportunities to explore and relax. He's also been enjoying our calming acoustic benches inside the centre, taking some time to unwind and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

We look forward to seeing Antoine continue to grow in confidence and make lots of happy memories along the way!

We were delighted to have Rory & Bronagh from the National Autistic Society NI, attend the launch of 'Every Child Matters- A Parent's Guide to SEN in NI'.

This fantastic resource has been developed to make it easier for families to find clear and accessible information about SEN support, local services and organisations, financial help and useful contacts across Northern Ireland.

It was wonderful to see so many organisations, charities and support services come together for such an important event, and we're grateful to Cheryl Brownlee MLA for bringing this valuable resource to families.

We are pleased to have a digital copy of the booklet available to share with parents and families who need it. If you would like a copy, please get in touch with us.
