Epilepsy Society

Epilepsy Society We are the UK’s only charity transforming the lives of people with epilepsy through world-leading research, advocacy and care. We are here for you.

People are at the heart of everything that we do; and we hope to see the day when epilepsy is irrelevant. Our vision is a full life for everyone affected by epilepsy. We want everyone affected by epilepsy to have the best opportunity for a full life – as free from seizures as possible. We set out to make a difference to every person affected by epilepsy whatever their background, however seriously

it affects them, and whether they have the condition themselves or are close to someone with epilepsy.

The NHS will be making the flu vaccine available for free to eligible groups from the 1st of October.

Whilst some with certain health conditions will be eligible, people with epilepsy are not automatically included in this clinical risk group, unless they have respiratory difficulties due to a chronic neurological condition.

However, GPs can decide at their discretion which of their patients are eligible if they aren’t in one of these groups. If you have epilepsy and are unsure whether you qualify, speak to your GP.

Dr Fergus Rugg-Gunn, Clinical Lead at the Chalfont Centre, Epilepsy Society, has also written a letter to support your case for eligibility.

In the second of video diaries, he shares how he would often hide from his family after a seizure so they wouldn't see him crying and opens up about the emotional toll epilepsy can take.
