Meet Keith (67) and Jude (65), a husband and wife duo who joined me some time ago for exercise rehabilitation sessions. When they heard about my personal training programmes, they were quick to sign up and challenge themselves ahead of a family wedding.
Their goals were to lose weight, tone up, and continue staying fit and active.
After a 16-week programme focused on making positive, sustainable lifestyle changes, they have both achieved some fantastic results. Between them, they have lost almost 3kg of body fat, reduced their bust/chest measurements by 2", their waists by 4", and their hips by 5". This demonstrates that the scales aren't the only way to measure progress, especially when you're looking to build lean muscle. Reducing body fat, particularly around the vital organs, plays an important role in preventing chronic disease and supporting long term health and Keith and Jude are proof that it's never too late to get started.
Keith's standout moment came when he told me he had to return a pair of new trousers because they were too big (how satisfying!). He's also made great progress with his hydration - it's now not uncommon for me to see his water bottle empty! π
Jude's standout achievement has been her weight loss, reflected both on the scales and in her measurements. This has come from consistently increasing her daily step count and protein intake in a way that has been realistic and sustainable for her. π
