About Me:
After many years of struggling with my own weight, nutrition and related symptoms, I began a journey that led me to lose three stone as well as the related health issues. I had so much more energy and had discovered a lot about nutrition. Friends and family started to ask how I had done it and could I help them? I then decided to train and qualify as a Nutritional Therapist. A few months after this, I was faced with a particularly stressful period at work and home. I was introduced to the Control System and attended a Control workshop. Coming away after one day, totally relaxed and in control, I made a decision. I went on to study and qualify as a Control Practitioner and Remedial Hypnotist! During and shortly after this time, I had began to change peoples lives and help them feel in control, balanced and happy again. Taking away stress, fear of heights, anxiety, stopping people from smoking, losing weight and many more. Finally a great opportunity arose. My holistic approach to client care and local knowledge was partnered with an offer to work with, and at, the Lordswood Osteopathic Clinic. Control and Change was born. The clinic is conveniently located at the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, in the heart of the medway towns and close to the M2 junction 3. Easy links from Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Gravesend and Canterbury and a short hop from Junction 6 of the M20 and Blue Bell Hill from Maidstone, Ashford and surrounding areas. The centre is situated in a quiet country setting overlooking 20 acres of playing fields, with free parking for over 100 cars and disabled access. Regular local buses (166, 167 & 701) stop around half a mile from the Centre.

What do you do when a panic attack hitsโ€ฆ& your therapist isn't there?

Because letโ€™s be honestโ€ฆ
Panic attacks rarely happen at convenient times.
Not sat calmly in a therapy room , but:
๐Ÿ‘‰ in the supermarket
๐Ÿ‘‰ driving the car
๐Ÿ‘‰ at work
๐Ÿ‘‰ before a meeting
๐Ÿ‘‰ lying awake at 2am
๐Ÿ‘‰ while trying to hold it together around other people
..and in that moment, most people do the same thing:
โŒ Fight it
โŒ Panic about panicking
โŒ Try to escape
โŒ Tell themselves โ€œI canโ€™t copeโ€

Which accidentally teaches the brain:
โš ๏ธ โ€œThis situation must be dangerous.โ€

๐Ÿ’ก One of the most important things to remember:
A panic attack feels dangerousโ€ฆbut it is not dangerous.
Your nervous system is overloaded.
Your body is trying to protect you.

Hereโ€™s a simple rapid calm technique:
1๏ธโƒฃ Stop fighting the feeling
2๏ธโƒฃ Slow your breathing down slightly (hold you in breather a few second before release)
3๏ธโƒฃ Focus on something physical around you:
feet on the floor (tap with one foot, I love to do a bar of a good song)
cold drink (feel the glass, watch the bubbles)
chair beneath you (hold the chair leg if you can)
sounds around you (pick your favourite)

This helps interrupt the fear cycle and tells the brain:
๐Ÿ‘‰ โ€œI am safe enough.โ€

The goal is not perfection.
The goal is learning:
๐Ÿง  โ€œI can get through this.โ€
Because confidence grows every time your mind learns:
โ€œI survived that.โ€
