Over the course of my career Iâve seen this pattern again and again: the person who runs everything.
They build the business because relying on other people never quite worked out or because their natural ability to do it all is driving them.
They take on the caregiving, the fixing, the decisions, and the responsibility of doing it all that no one actually asked them to own. Sound familiar?
Most folks donât even see it as a pattern, because itâs always been this way. It starts out as being the good student, achieving the top grades, the sought-after job, moving up through the ranks, building and growing a business but never quite arriving at the point of enjoying it, or feeling safe enough to delegate, and to actually breathe.
I donât try to teach this person to relax. I help them put something down and then watch what happens. The pattern loosens when they discover the world, and the people in it, hold steady without them. Nothing falls apart in the way we often fear it will!
I know this pattern, because Iâve lived it.
This is why we created Restore: a week to feel, maybe for the first time in years, what itâs like when nothing depends on you holding it together. And it doesnât end when youâre back. You leave knowing how to run your strengths in a way that nurtures you, not just the business.
