How you eat is one of the first things I explore with every client.

They could be eating all the right things - nourishing, wholesome, balanced meals - but still feel bloated, sluggish, and tired.

And so often, the food itself isn’t the problem. It’s the digestion process.

Chewing is where digestion actually begins. It’s not just about breaking food down mechanically with your teeth. Chewing sends signals to your stomach to start producing acid and digestive enzymes. It’s getting your whole system ready for what’s coming.

I often describe the digestion process like a line of dominoes. Chewing is the very first one.

If it doesn’t fall correctly, everything that follows gets disrupted:

👉🏻 food arrives in your stomach in larger chunks than it can handle
👉🏻 enzymes aren’t released in the right amounts, and
👉🏻 nutrients don’t absorb properly.

That’s when the bloating, wind, and indigestion set in.

One of the simplest ways to improve your digestion is to slow down and chew your food.

Chew it until it’s soft and smooth, so no lumps or chunks.

I know it sounds simple, but this one small thing can make such a difference.

Save this if it resonates or share it with a friend who always eats on the run 💛

Everyone’s body is different, and every skin condition has its own story.

The root cause driving your rosacea, psoriasis or eczema won’t be the same as someone else’s - and how quickly your body responds will be unique to you too.

As a nutritional therapist, I often see that skin conditions like these rarely exist in isolation.

They’re the body’s way of flagging something deeper - gut health, hormones, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, stress.

But until you start addressing what’s actually driving it, it can feel like an impossible cycle to break.

Once clients start working with their body, things begin to change:

✨ Skin calms
✨ Confidence returns
✨ Flare-ups become less frequent and less fierce
✨ They start to feel more like themselves again

It takes time and consistency (I don’t look for perfection). But it is possible with the right information and support.

If this is the summer you want that change, let’s have a chat about what’s going on and how I can help.

Have you got a skin condition that won't budge, despite trying different products, cutting out foods, or managing your stress levels?

Low vitamin D could be a missing piece that’s easy to overlook.

Low vitamin D is one of the most overlooked drivers of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

It plays a key role in regulating your skin's immune response, controlling inflammation, and keeping the skin barrier strong.

Without optimal levels, your skin simply struggles to do its job.

And, despite whatever you may have been doing over winter, your levels may still not be optimal coming into spring.

Getting a bit of sun on your face isn't going to be enough to change that, especially if you were taking a low dose that didn't move your levels much, or you have a genetic variant that affects how well you make or absorb vitamin D in the first place.

The only way to know if vitamin D is affecting your skin is to test, not guess.

I have access to NHS-approved vitamin D home tests, and I'll guide you on the right dose and supplement for your results, plus make sure you have all the co-factors your body needs so that vitamin D can work properly.

When the sun comes out and the layers start coming off, it can feel like everyone else is embracing the sunshine, the BBQs, the holidays… while you’re stressing about how to cover up what’s happening with your skin.

Maybe it’s:
😩 Rosacea that flares the moment you overheat – and foundation just makes it worse
😩 Psoriasis patches that make the idea of shorts, a swimsuit or a sleeveless top feel off-limits
😩 Eczema that’s itchy, painful and scabby – and the heat and sweat only make it angrier

That sinking feeling when you’d rather stay covered up than deal with the stares or the questions… it’s exhausting. And it can really chip away at your confidence.

But you’ve tried everything.
Creams.
Medications.
Advice that your GP is genuinely trying to give… but nothing seems to make a lasting difference.

And you probably know that the stress, tiredness and convenience eating aren’t helping – but when you’re juggling work, life and a hundred other things, sometimes grabbing something quick is all you can manage.

It can feel like a loop you just can’t get out of.

But it doesn’t have to stay like that.

As a nutritional therapist, I help clients get to the root cause of what’s driving their skin issues – whether that’s gut health, hormones, inflammation, stress, nutrient deficiencies, or something else the body is trying to tell you.

Because once you start addressing the root cause, that’s when the magic starts to happen:
✨ Skin calms
✨ Confidence returns
✨ You stop firefighting flare-ups and start breaking the cycle
✨ You begin to feel like you – and start actually looking forward to summer

If this summer you’d love to feel more comfortable and confident in your skin, you’re welcome to book an informal, no-pressure chat. We’ll talk about what’s going on, where you’re stuck, and how I can support you.

No judgment. No sales pitch. Just a genuine conversation about your skin and your health.

The sun’s finally out…
You start spending more time outside…
And you think, “Great, my vitamin D’s sorted now”.

So you stop taking the supplement you’ve been diligently taking all winter.

Job done, right?

What most people don’t realise is, if your vitamin D level is already low coming out of winter (which is very common), a bit of spring sunshine isn’t going to fix that.

You may have been taking too low a dose that won’t have moved your levels much, or you have a genetic variant that affects how well you make or absorb vitamin D in the first place.

You could be walking around right now with a low vitamin D level that is quietly impacting your health - and not even realise.

Vitamin D isn’t just about bones or your immune system. It supports:

☀️ your mood
☀️ your energy
☀️ your immune system
☀️ inflammation levels
☀️ skin health
☀️ heart health
☀️ blood sugar balance

But the only way to know if your vitamin D level is where it needs to be for optimal health is to test, not guess.

I have access to NHS-approved vitamin D home tests, and can guide you on the right dose and supplement for your results, plus make sure you have all the co-factors your body needs, like magnesium and vitamin K2, so that vitamin D can work properly.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of hosting the monthly Cheltenham netwalk around Pittville Park.

We had the perfect balance of therapists and creative business owners - and of course, the beautiful weather ☀️

It was the perfect opportunity to:

🌿 Escape the desk and get into nature
👭 Connect with other creative and well-being entrepreneurs who understand the highs and lows of running a business
💡Exchange ideas, find clarity and feel truly supported.

These netwalks have become non-negotiable for me, as running a business on your own can feel lonely and daunting.

What’s one thing you do to feel less alone in your business or when working from home?

If you’ve been battling psoriasis, eczema, acne or rosacea and nothing seems to work long-term, you’re not alone, and it’s not your fault.

One of my clients, Harriet, had dealt with red, itchy patches on her arms, elbows, knees and scalp for years. They’d got worse after pregnancy, and even steroid creams weren’t making a dent. She was exhausted by it.

Here’s something that often surprises people: skin conditions like these aren’t usually just a skin problem.

The skin is our largest organ, and it often reflects what’s going on deeper in the body, particularly in the gut.

When I work with someone struggling with their skin, I’m thinking about things like gut bacteria balance, how well the body is absorbing nutrients, food triggers, stress levels, and immune function.

Everyone’s picture looks a little different, which is why a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works.

Here are three gentle things worth trying this week:

🥦 Add one extra plant food a day to support your gut microbiome
😴 Prioritise sleep, it’s one of the most powerful tools for calming inflammation
📓 Start a simple food and symptom diary to spot any patterns

Small shifts can make a real difference over time.

If you’re ready to dig a little deeper, I’d love to have a chat about uncovering what might be going on for you.

Harriet, a busy mum of two, came to me frustrated and tired of living with psoriasis.

She’d dealt with red, itchy patches on her elbows, arms, knees and scalp for years, and they’d only gotten worse since her last pregnancy. A sunny holiday brought some relief, but even steroid creams from her GP weren’t cutting it.

People on the street and the kids at school were all asking ‘What’s wrong with your skin?’.

Harriet decided it was time to do something about it and, on my recommendation, bought a stool test to take a deeper dive into her body.

As a nutritional therapist, I know everyone’s psoriasis is unique, but the gut plays a key role in our health and can impact skin conditions.

With Harriet’s results, we started uncovering her root causes:

🔹 Low gut microbiome diversity (affecting immune resilience)
🔹 Low SIgA levels (making skin recovery harder)
🔹 High candida levels (which can worsen psoriasis)

So, with this information, I produced a tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan that centred around:

✨ Adding diverse, nutrient-rich foods to support her microbiome
✨ Managing her stress - a major trigger for psoriasis flare-ups
✨ Removing certain foods temporarily to see their impact

Within just three weeks, Harriet noticed real improvements - not just less itchy and red patches, but better skin on her face, and more energy too.

If you or someone you know is struggling with psoriasis, book a free chat with me and let’s get to the root cause of it together.
