👩‍💻Fertility apps can be helpful

👉🏻But they’re predicting ovulation, not confirming it.

👉🏻Most apps use averages and algorithms based on cycle length, which means they can easily get your fertile window wrong if:

• you ovulate earlier or later
• your cycle changes month to month
• stressed
• coming off contraception
• or dealing with hormone imbalances

And this matters more than most women realise 👀

🕵️‍♀️ Because even progesterone blood tests are often timed using these predicted ovulation dates

👉🏻So if ovulation happened later than the app assumed, a day 21 progesterone test can be done too early and miss what’s actually happening hormonally

This is why I always encourage women to learn THEIR body:

✨ cervical mucus
✨ basal body temperature
✨ ovulation tests
✨ symptoms + cycle patterns

Because your hormones don’t run on an app’s schedule.

👉🏻 Women with:

• recurrent miscarriage
• failed implantation
• endometriosis
• BV
• chronic thrush
• unexplained infertility

…are often told everything “looks normal.”

🦠But the reproductive microbiome is one of the most overlooked pieces of the fertility puzzle.

👉🏻Because sometimes the issue isn’t just the embryo…
It’s the environment the embryo is trying to implant into.

Research is increasingly showing links between the vaginal microbiome and:

✨ inflammation
✨ immune signalling
✨ cervical mucus
✨ s***m survival
✨ implantation
✨ IVF outcomes

🕵️‍♀️And yet many women are never properly investigated for it.

👉🏻One of the biggest fertility shifts I see?

When couples finally start looking deeper instead of being told it’s just “bad luck.”

Primary studies and meta-analyses are now showing that women with more favourable Lactobacillus dominant microbiomes had:

• higher pregnancy rates
• higher live birth rates
• lower miscarriage rates

✨ This doesn’t mean the microbiome is ALWAYS the answer. But it absolutely deserves to be part of the conversation.

👀 What does being ‘properly investigated’ actually mean?

❓It’s a term that’s used a lot in the fertility space with many couples believing they have been fully investigated only to realise much further down the line that something was missing all along.

Failed implantation?
Painful periods?
Clotting?
Cold hands and feet?
Feeling exhausted around your cycle?

👉🏻Chinese medicine would ask a very different question:

✨ Is the uterus too “cold” to properly support implantation?

Now this doesn’t literally mean your uterus is physically cold.

In Chinese medicine, “cold” is more a pattern of:

• reduced circulation
• low warmth
• stagnation
• poor flow
• low energy/nourishment

👉🏻And interestingly, many women with this pattern
often experience:

• painful periods
• clotting
• feeling cold easily
• digestive weakness
• fatigue
• spotting
• implantation struggles

This is why in clinic we often focus on:

🌿 warmth
🌿 circulation
🌿 nourishment
🌿 nervous system regulation
🌿 digestion
🌿 blood flow

Because fertility is about more than hormones alone.

PCOS has officially been renamed and it explains so much! 👏

The new proposed name:

✨ PMOS
(Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome)

And this shift matters more than people realise.

Because for YEARS, women have been told they couldn’t possibly have PCOS because:

• their scan was “normal”
• they didn’t have cysts
• they weren’t overweight
• their hormones were “within range”

Meanwhile they were struggling with:

• irregular ovulation
• acne
• hair growth
• missing periods
• insulin resistance
• fatigue
• inflammation
• fertility challenges

This is exactly why so many women feel dismissed.

Because hormonal dysfunction exists on a spectrum long before someone fully meets diagnostic criteria.

Honestly?

I have heard countless women that have been told..

“If your BMI was higher, I’d call it PCOS…”

The new name acknowledges something important:

This condition is rarely JUST about ovaries.

It’s deeply connected to:
✨ metabolism
✨ insulin signalling
✨ hormone balance
✨ inflammation
✨ nervous system health
✨ fertility

And I think many women will finally feel more seen because of that.

👉🏻Save this for later, especially if you’ve ever been told “everything looks normal” when you knew something wasn’t right. 💭

🎬 Unfortunately… these aren’t rare storylines in fertility care.

✨ Fertility is rarely as simple as one hormone, one number, or “just try IVF.”
