It is with great sadness that we share the passing of person we support, Gary.
Gary was a larger-than-life character who brought warmth, humour and kindness to everyone around him. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to staff whenever he could and loved nothing more than chatting with staff and his housemates about the things that mattered to them. Gary would often remind us all, "We're like one big family," and that is exactly how he made everyone feel.
Gary proudly served in the British Army from the age of 16 as an infantryman. He loved reminiscing about his military service and sharing stories of his travels and training in the USA, Belize, Central America and Germany.
A passionate music lover, Gary's favourite band was AC/DC, and their songs were often the soundtrack to his day.
Gary was also a talented cook who took great pride in preparing delicious meals for his housemates and staff. His roast dinners were always a favourite, and his famous Christmas dinner!
Fishing was one of Gary's greatest passions. He enjoyed weekly fishing trips and eagerly planned special fishing holidays to celebrate his birthday each August. He loved sharing stories of his adventures by the water and was always excited for the next trip. Alongside fishing, Gary enjoyed remote control cars, bike rides and building models.
Family meant the world to Gary. He cherished visits from his sister and would often speak with excitement about finding the perfect Christmas gifts for those he loved.
Gary leaves behind many wonderful memories and lasting friendships. He will be deeply missed by his housemates, who became like family to him, and by every member of the Saracen Care team who had the privilege of knowing him.
We will always remember Gary's caring nature, his infectious conversations, and the words he never failed to say as staff finished their shifts:
"Be safe, babs."
Rest in peace, Gary. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the kindness you shared with us all. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts. β€οΈ
