ADHD is one of the most misunderstood conditions because people often judge it by what they can see instead of what the person is managing internally.

It’s not just “being distracted” or “having too much energy.” It can look like wanting to start something and feeling frozen. Losing hours to tasks you never meant to prioritize. Feeling every emotion at full volume. Constantly fighting your own brain for structure, follow-through, and consistency. And doing all of that while being called lazy, careless, dramatic, or unmotivated.

Many people with ADHD aren’t failing to care. They’re carrying an invisible workload most people never notice.

Sometimes the hardest part of ADHD isn’t the symptoms. It’s being misunderstood while you’re trying your best. 🥧

Students in the study that interacted with cats and dogs had a significant reduction in cortisol, a major stress hormone.

The "6 Fs" describe the physiological and psychological threat responses programmed into the human nervous system. When you perceive danger, your amygdala (the brain's alarm system) triggers the autonomic nervous system to help you survive.
FIGHT FLIGHT FREEZE FAWN or FRIEND & FAINT

The fawn response is often misunderstood as simply being a people-pleaser, but it's quieter and more complex than that. It's the art of becoming so self-sufficient, so low-maintenance, that you never have to trouble anyone with your needs. It's downplaying your pain, softening your edges, and carrying more than your share — not because you're trying to impress, but because somewhere along the way you learned that needing too much could cost you connection. Over time, this hyper-independence can feel like safety, but it's also profoundly lonely. It keeps the nervous system locked in a constant, low-grade hum of vigilance — always managing, always minimising, never fully at rest. Healing means slowly allowing yourself to take up space, to need, and to trust that true belonging doesn't come from being easy to love - it comes from being real.
