Found it? 👀 And yes, I mean it 🤍

One of the things people are often most surprised by at a consultation with me is that I don't necessarily recommend treating everything they've come in asking about.

Sometimes a small amount of treatment is enough. Sometimes I'd approach something differently. And sometimes I'll tell you I don't think you need to treat it at all.

My job is to look at your face, listen to what's bothering you and give you my professional opinion, yes, even when that means doing less.

So there you go. Free aesthetic advice and you didn't even have to book a consultation for it! 😘

No. Because when you already work to the highest standards, you’re ahead of the game.

The Government has been talking about regulating non-surgical cosmetic procedures in England for several years. A licensing scheme is still planned, but patients are still waiting for it to become law.

Shockingly, that means there is currently no single mandatory licensing system covering all practitioners and premises offering aesthetic treatments.

But I don’t believe your safety should depend on how quickly the Government acts.

I’m a registered nurse, which means I’m accountable to the NMC and its professional standards. I work from a CQC-registered clinic, with the proper clinical processes, insurance and protocols already in place.

So if new regulation arrived tomorrow, my commitment to assessment, consent, safe treatment and appropriate aftercare wouldn’t change. Because those standards are already part of how I practise every day.

Until regulation catches up, please keep yourself safe by looking carefully at the standards your practitioner has chosen to meet.

And if you ever have questions about my qualifications and accreditations, please ask. I’m more than happy to tell you about the standard of care I’m proud to provide.

You go home with clear aftercare advice, and you still have access to me if you need it.

I'll explain what to expect and what to do afterwards, but sometimes a question only occurs to you once you're back home.

And if you do get in touch, I can reassure you when what you're experiencing is completely expected, or recognise when something needs a closer look. That's part of the medical care that comes with your treatment.

Please never worry that you're bothering me. Sometimes you just need a quick answer or a little reassurance, and I'd always rather you asked.

So when you're choosing who to trust with your treatment, ask about the aftercare too. You should know what support is available once you leave the clinic, as well as what happens while you're there.

Having a treatment shouldn't feel like you're on your own once you leave the clinic.

Questions are normal. Sometimes they're the ones you forgot to ask during your appointment.
