Northgate Village Surgery

Northgate Village Surgery Northgate Village Surgery is a friendly well established GP training practice established in 1991 We also have additional doctors called registrars.

Northgate Village Surgery is a friendly well established GP training practice. The doctors and staff here at Northgate Village in Chester are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery

, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups. As our surgery is a teaching practice we occasionally have groups of medical students working with us to further their education. During their time with us, they are required to sit in during appointments from time to time. If you do not feel comfortable with this, please inform a member of staff when you book your appointment or as soon as possible on arrival. Registrars usually work with us for a year, helping them become fully qualified GP's. We are open five days a week Monday-Friday 8:00am-6:30pm and are closed during weekends and bank holidays. Once a month the practice closes for training between 12:00-5:00pm (Further information with the dates are allocated on our website). The majority of our surgeries are run on an appointment system where you can ring us on 01244 564319 or book online via patient access to arrange a routine appointment if you are a patient here at Northgate Village Surgery. For more urgent matters that should be dealt with on the day, we provide a Duty Doctor Telephone Triage system where you will be contacted by the Duty Doctor who will ring you back to discuss your problem. They will advise you or make an appointment for you to be seen when they feel appropriate. We also have routine Doctor and Nurse telephone appointments available where they will call you back after their morning surgery to discuss test results, travel advice and other health advice that can be dealt with over routinely over the telephone. For those housebound we can offer Home Visits from a doctor or assistance from the District Nurse team. Social Networking Policy:

Today is the start of Mental Health Awareness Week. We’re shouting loudly that great mental health care isn't just clinical, it's human. It’s the kind voice at the end of the phone when you’re worried about rent and too unwell to work. It’s the adviser who listens actively, rather than waiting for their turn to speak. And it's you reminding friends and loved ones that these contact details can save lives. Please share 💙

We're tackling common myths around switching medications, through our new campaign - 💊 ✅

Across the NHS, huge numbers of patients have been successfully switched to different versions of their medicines to treat their health conditions. But research shows that many people have concerns about switching - often based on misunderstandings about quality, safety, or effectiveness.

MYTH-BUSTING - what patients want to know about switching medicines 👇

❓ If it’s more cost-effective, is it lower quality?
👉 No. All medicines prescribed by the NHS must meet strict UK safety and quality standards. A medicine can cost less simply because it has been produced by a different manufacturer.

❓ Will it work as well as my usual medicine?
👉 Yes, your NHS team will only prescribe a medicine that is right for your health needs, and all medicines are tested to the same standards to make sure they are just as effective.

❓Why does it look different?
👉 Different brands or medicines may use different packaging, medication shapes or colours - but the medicine inside is regulated to the same standards and will only be prescribed if it’s right for you and your health needs.

❓Is it safe if it’s made overseas?
👉 Yes. All NHS‑supplied medicines, wherever they are made, must meet the same strict standards before they are approved and licensed for use in the UK.
