With over 30 years experience as an aromatherapist, I have been asked many questions about treatments. This is one of them:-

"Is the order of movements in an aromatherapy massage important?"

Yes, it is. The sequence of movements has been carefully worked out and planned in detail to direct the flow of lymph around the body.

The massage routine allows me to perform movements, and the bridges between them, with confidence and rhythm.

This ensures I will be giving a massage at a high standard to all my clients.

What is good posture?

🧍‍♀️This is when it's relaxed yet aligned. When you adjust into a more upright stance, you feel more energetic.

🫁Distortions in posture will affect your breathing because of compression of the lungs, as well as constricting the heart and impeding its full function.

🧘‍♀️When your abdominal muscles sag, this causes aches and pains. Excessive weight carried around the abdomen causes a forward pelvic tilt, resulting in tension and pain in the lower back. It is important to reduce weight there and to exercise and strengthen abdominal muscles. This will support your back.

🌳Be like a tree. Ground level is waist high, your legs are the roots, your spine, the slender trunk growing upwards and from which everything else can relax down. Feel as if your feet are being pulled down into the ground without effort, whilst the head grows tall towards the sky. Through connecting with gravity like this, you will experience elongation of the spine.

As I look at these gorgeous poppies, their vibrant colour reminds me to focus on my root chakra. This is found at the base of the torso and includes the legs and feet.

Here are some tips on how to balance yours:-

🍓Focus on any shade of red. Look for things you can pick out at home and on the street. Such as a bowl of strawberries, red flowers in the garden, red sports car. Wear something red (especially red socks or underwear).

🍎Look after your physical body. Book a massage, think about going for a medical check-up, particularly for your feet, legs and base of torso.

⛱️Connect to your feet. Try massaging them or book a reflexology session. Walk around the house as often as you can. Try to walk barefoot outside on the grass or on a sandy beach.

👠Get organised. Make your house as comfortable as you can. Do you need to sort the pile of admin, clean your handbag out or clear any clutter?

📕Take control of your finances. Money is a big root chakra issue. Get useful advice from savvy friends, books and articles.

🔴For grounding and protection, try black, brown or red crystals like garnet and haematite. Pop a small piece in your pocket.
