Hey, it’s Jana — the owner of Recovery Trauma 🤍

Yesterday I had tears in my eyes looking at how everything started with Recovery Trauma.

I think around a year and a half ago, I simply started posting little bits online. And honestly, some people questioned it…
“Why do people need this?”
“What’s the point?”

But over time, I received thousands and thousands of messages and comments from people saying:
“Thank you.”
“This helped me feel less alone.”
“I finally feel understood.”

And that’s what pushed me to create something bigger.

I wanted to be deeply involved in building Recovery Trauma myself because I didn’t want it to feel cold, rushed, or unsafe. I wanted to create a space that truly feels gentle, calming, and supportive the moment you arrive there.

A space where people struggling with trauma, CPTSD, emotional overwhelm, or nervous system dysregulation can finally exhale and feel safe.

And honestly… I’m really, really proud of what has been created so far. 💛

There is still so much more coming.
✨ New live courses
✨ More healing resources
✨ More support tools
✨ The new app launching soon

We’ll be announcing everything very soon.

Thank you for all the support, kindness, encouragement, and love throughout this journey. It truly means more than you know.

Lots of love,
Jana

Some people loved
the unhealed version of you
because it was easier to manipulate someone
who was still fighting to survive.

Trust me,
I have been there too.

They admired your silence.
They admired your endless forgiveness.
They admired your habit
of putting everyone else first
while abandoning yourself.

But healing changes you.
Recovery from trauma changes you.

As soon as you begin to heal,
you slowly gain the strength
to choose yourself,
to protect your peace,
and to finally understand
that your needs matter too.

The love you had for certain people
will not disappear overnight.
Healing is not that simple.

But one day,
you will learn how to place people on a shelf
and call it what it truly was:

a healing experience,
not a lifelong sentence.

You will forgive,
not because they deserved it,
but because you deserve peace.

And little by little,
you will realize
that loving yourself
is the most important love of all.

You stop surviving.
You start blooming.

And if I can heal from CPTSD,
walk away from people
who constantly dragged me down,
disrespected me,
and made me question my worth,

then so can YOU.

Lots of love,
— Jana

Sometimes anger is pain that was never heard.
Sometimes sadness is love you never received.
Sometimes fear is the part of you still waiting to feel safe. 💔

Healing begins when we stop fighting our emotions and start listening to what they’re trying to tell us.

You are not “too emotional.”
You are carrying experiences that deserve compassion, understanding, and healing. 🌱

✨ 10 Ways Men Regulate Their Nervous System In A Tool Shop ✨

Sometimes he’s not “shopping.”
His nervous system just needed:

* predictable aisles
* strong smells
* heavy objects
* quiet spaces
* and a coffee in his hand 😂

🧠 Things that actually help:

🔧 Picking up heavy tool boxes because deep pressure can calm the nervous system.

🌲 Smelling strong plants, wood, leather gloves, machine oil or pine because grounding smells help the brain feel safe again.

☕ Holding a coffee while slowly walking through the store like a tired man emotionally recovering in silence.

🚶 Walking the aisles slowly with no real goal except giving the nervous system a break.

👀 Trying the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding method:

* 5 things you can SEE
* 4 things you can TOUCH
* 3 things you can HEAR
* 2 things you can SMELL
* 1 thing you can TASTE

🪵 Touching different textures:
wood • metal • rope • fabric gloves

because textures can help regulate the brain.

🌱 Standing near the gardening section smelling plants and soil like your nervous system just discovered nature again.

📦 Reading tool packages for 20 minutes because focusing on details can quiet racing thoughts.

🧴 Smelling random strong “man smells”:
cedar • leather • sawdust • rubber • soap

because sensory grounding actually works.

🛒 Leaving calmer than when you entered with:

* one unnecessary gadget
* snacks or beef jerky
* and a slightly quieter mind.

✨ Trauma healing is weird sometimes.

IFS EXPLAINED EASY – MEN’S VERSION

You are not weak. You are made of parts. Every part of you developed for a reason.

PROTECTOR
“I stay guarded so nobody can hurt us again.
I work hard, stay alert, and keep emotions under control.
I’m not trying to ruin your life —
I’m trying to keep you safe.”

EXILE
“I carry the shame, rejection, loneliness, and pain from the past.
I just want to feel accepted, understood, and valued.
Under the anger or silence… I’m hurting.”

FROZEN PART
“When life feels too overwhelming, I shut down.
I disconnect, numb out, isolate, scroll, sleep, or avoid.
It’s not laziness —
it’s survival mode.”

SELF
“I am calm, grounded, strong, and compassionate.
I listen to every part instead of fighting them.
I lead with courage, honesty, and understanding.
I don’t destroy parts —
I help them trust each other.”

HOW WE HEAL
• Get curious, not ashamed
• Listen before reacting
• Build trust with yourself
• Learn healthy boundaries
• Allow emotions without judgment
• Heal together, not alone

ALL PARTS HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS.
Every part learned a job to help you survive.
When Self leads, healing becomes possible.

WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER…
✓ We feel more in control
✓ We react less impulsively
✓ We build confidence and self-respect
✓ We feel safer emotionally
✓ We create stronger relationships
✓ We stop fighting ourselves inside

Fight, Flight, Freeze & Fawn

How trauma responses can show up in everyday life ✈️

Imagine this:
You’re at the airport.
Your flight gets delayed.
It’s crowded, loud, stressful, and uncertain.

Same situation.
Different nervous system responses.

❤️ FIGHT

What it can look like:
• irritation
• snapping at staff
• frustration
• needing control

What’s happening underneath:
“My body feels threatened.
I need to protect myself.”

Fight is the nervous system preparing for danger.

🌿 FLIGHT

What it can look like:
• pacing
• panic
• wanting to leave
• overthinking everything

What’s happening underneath:
“I need to get away to feel safe.”

Flight is survival through escape.

🧊 FREEZE

What it can look like:
• shutting down
• staring blankly
• feeling numb
• unable to decide

What’s happening underneath:
“I feel overwhelmed.
My body doesn’t know what to do.”

Freeze happens when the nervous system feels overloaded.

🤍 FAWN

What it can look like:
• over-apologizing
• people-pleasing
• ignoring your own needs
• trying to keep everyone happy

What’s happening underneath:
“If everyone else is okay,
maybe I’ll finally feel safe too.”

Fawn is survival through connection and approval.

These are not personality flaws.
They are survival responses your nervous system learned to keep you safe.

Healing begins when your body learns:
“I am safe now.”

Take a screenshot of these prompts and paste them into ChatGPT.
The answers might show you parts of yourself you’ve never fully seen before.

“Tell me what you’ve learned about me from our conversations — but through the lens of trauma healing.”

Then ask:

• What survival patterns do I still confuse with personality traits?
• What wounds are still quietly shaping my decisions?
• What triggers have I normalized for so long that I barely notice them anymore?
• What part of me is still stuck in survival mode?
• Where do I abandon myself to avoid rejection, conflict, or loneliness?
• What fear is secretly controlling most of my life right now?
• What does my nervous system actually need to feel safe?
• If I fully healed and stopped surviving all the time… what could my life become instead?

Healing isn’t becoming someone new.
It’s finally feeling safe enough to become yourself.
