Over the past few posts, we’ve been exploring how neurodiversity shapes the way people think, learn, communicate, and experience the world.

We’ve also reflected on something important:

💥 different ways of thinking are not weaknesses to “fix” — they are often the very things that bring creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and fresh perspectives into our workplaces and communities.

But awareness is only the starting point.

Real inclusion comes from understanding:

đź’« how neurodiversity may present differently in different people

đź’« how environments can either support or overwhelm

đź’« how communication and processing differences affect everyday experiences

đź’« and how small practical changes can make a meaningful difference

That’s exactly what we’ll be exploring in our upcoming CPD session:

🧠 Understanding Neurodiversity: Awareness, Impact & Support (NDD1)

This session is designed to build practical, real-world understanding around neurodiversity, including areas such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other cognitive differences.

Did you know that around 5% of the population may have a neurodevelopmental disorder called dyscalculia?

Dyscalculia affects an individual’s ability to acquire and use mathematical skills, but it can present very differently from person to person.

For some people, it affects how they understand and work with numbers. For others, it may impact:
• reading mathematical symbols
• understanding finances
• interpreting data
• using numbers in everyday life

What’s important to remember is that dyscalculia does not define intelligence or potential.

In fact, many people with dyscalculia also have significant strengths, including:
✨ creativity
✨ intuitive thinking
✨ strategic problem-solving
✨ strong verbal and communication skills

Awareness and understanding can make a huge difference in helping people feel more supported and confident.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about dyscalculia and our upcoming CPD session:

One common misunderstanding around neurodiversity is assuming that if someone seems to be managing well on the surface, they aren’t experiencing challenges underneath.

In reality, many neurodivergent individuals work incredibly hard to adapt to environments that may not naturally suit the way they think, process information, communicate, or focus. This is called 'masking'.

That’s why awareness matters.

Small changes in understanding and communication can make a significant difference to someone’s confidence, wellbeing, and ability to thrive.

Our *Understanding Neurodiversity* CPD accredited session focuses on practical, real-world awareness that can support more inclusive workplaces, learning environments, and communities.

Imagine if every superhero in the Marvel Universe had exactly the same superpower.

Same strengths.
Same abilities.
Same way of thinking.

It would get pretty boring very quickly — and they probably wouldn’t be nearly as effective at overcoming challenges either.

Real life is much the same.

If everyone thought the same way, approached problems the same way, and saw the world in exactly the same way, society would lose so much creativity, innovation, and progress.

Neurodiversity reminds us that different ways of thinking are not something to “fix” — they are part of what helps communities, workplaces, and society grow stronger, more creative, and more adaptable.

Different minds bring different strengths.

And that’s something worth understanding and valuing.

Neurodiversity is something we all encounter - 1 in 7 of us are neurodiverse. Have you ever thought about that?

Neurodivergence relates to the different ways people think, learn, communicate, and experience the world.

This includes conditions such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia.

In many workplaces and communities, people want to be supportive — but often aren’t sure what practical understanding looks like day-to-day.

Our upcoming CPD session on *Understanding Neurodiversity* focuses on exactly that:
simple, practical awareness that helps improve inclusion and communication in real environments.

Because small changes in understanding can make a big difference to everyone.

One thing that often comes up during Disability Awareness training is this:

Many people already care deeply about inclusion and supporting others well.

What they often lack is confidence in real-world situations, wondering how to actually apply their knowledge:
• knowing the right language to use
• understanding practical barriers
• understanding how everyday experiences may differ for disabled individuals

That’s exactly why sessions like our CPD Accredited Understanding Disability: From Awareness to Action are so valuable.

The goal isn’t perfection — it’s greater awareness, confidence and practical understanding that people can take into everyday workplaces, education settings and community environments.

Our next 2-hour CPD session takes place on 5 June.

Our next Disability Awareness (CPD Accredited) session is just a few weeks away.

This is a practical, real-world training session designed to help build confidence when supporting or working with disabled individuals.

We cover:
• Common barriers people may experience
• Practical communication approaches
• How to respond confidently in real situations

If you’ve been thinking about joining, this is the stage where most people decide whether to book or wait for the next one.

One of the things people often say after Disability Awareness training is:
“I feel much more confident in how I handle situations now.”

Not because everything becomes easy—but because there’s more clarity in the moment.

Instead of second-guessing themselves afterwards, people start to feel more grounded in how they respond.

• What matters most in this situation
• How to communicate more clearly
• When to pause, listen, and adapt

That shift from uncertainty to confidence is often the biggest takeaway.

One thing we see again and again in Disability Awareness training is this:
Most people do want to do the right thing—but feel unsure in real situations.

For example:
• How do you respond confidently when communication is different?
• How do you offer support without overstepping?
• How do you avoid second-guessing yourself afterwards?

These are very real workplace (and everyday) situations, but many people haven’t had clear, practical guidance on how to handle them.

So instead, they rely on instinct—and often worry afterwards about whether they got it right.

That’s why practical training makes such a difference: it helps build confidence and gives you a clearer way to approach these moments.

Most people want to do the right thing when it comes to supporting disabled individuals—but sometimes it’s hard to know what that actually looks like in practice.

That’s why I run our Disability Awareness (CPD Accredited) training.

A practical, easy-to-follow session designed to build confidence in real-life situations—not just theory.

We cover:
âś” Barriers faced by disabled individuals
âś” How disability is understood in different ways
âś” Simple, practical ways to be more inclusive
đź“… Next session is in just two weeks.
