Well this was a brilliant way to spend a Friday 😂

Five aesthetic nurses in the studio today. Loads of outfit changes, scrubs, products, selfies, dancing and plenty of taking the mickey.

They all have their own businesses doing similar things, but they’re there for each other. I loved that.

Had such a laugh with them. So many photos to follow.

20 years since it all began 🤎

Twenty years ago this month, I walked through the doors of the University of Derby as a first-year student nurse, beginning a journey that would shape the rest of my life.

If you'd told me then where my career would take me, I don't think I would have believed you.

Since starting my nurse training in September 2006, I've been fortunate to work across a variety of nursing roles, each one teaching me something valuable.

☎️ Nurse Advisor for NHS Direct

🏡 Community Staff Nurse then Clinical Nurse Specialist for a Community IV Therapy Service

💙 Vaccinator and Vaccination Coordinator during the COVID-19 vaccination programme

And now...

✨ Independent Nurse Prescriber ✨ Nurse Practitioner ✨ Business Owner of DermaRenew Medical Aesthetics

Over the years I've cared for thousands of patients, completed additional qualifications, become an independent prescriber, built a business from the ground up and found a speciality that I genuinely love.

Whilst my role looks very different today, the foundations remain exactly the same. Patient safety, clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, compassion and professionalism continue to guide every decision I make.

I'm still a nurse. I'm still a clinician.

I've simply specialised in aesthetics.

Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful for every patient, colleague, mentor and opportunity that has been part of this journey.

Here's to 20 years since it all began and to whatever comes next. ❤️

And every single time, my response is pretty much the same...

💄 "Sorry, I've got no makeup on."
Perfect. I need to see your skin, not your foundation.

✨ "Sorry about my skin."
Please don't apologise for having skin. Dry skin, oily skin, acne, pigmentation, redness, texture... it's literally my job to assess it, not judge it.

📸 "Sorry, the before photos are awful."
They're not supposed to be glamorous. They're there to help us track progress.

😴 "Sorry, I look tired."
Most people are juggling work, family, life and everything in between. You're in good company.

💋 "Sorry, my lips are uneven."
You'd be amazed how common asymmetry is. Faces aren't meant to be perfectly symmetrical.

🩺 "Sorry, this is probably a silly question."
There are no silly questions when it comes to your face, your skin, or your treatment.
